i like CoD5 a lot more than CoD4. it's true that WWII has been rehashed to hell and back, but so has "semi-futuristic special forces shooter." the outdoor environments, forest/swamps/beaches are absolutely stunning, and the game has a lot of atmosphere and grittiness that CoD4 lacked.

the WWII guns are just a preference thing. a lot of people complain about the single shot rifles like the springfield/kar98/whatever, but they really separate the good players from the bad. a skilled person can take you out from a huge distance with a well aimed shot, but noobs who are used to machine guns will have trouble because you can't just spray and pray.

CoD4 is a great game and it revolutionized the online multiplayer/perks/upgrades system. CoD5 perfected them.

Modern Warfare 2 will revolutionize online multiplayer again, then COD 6 can copy it and make minor tweaks again.

cod6 is MW2...

I have no idea about who got the contracts for any of the releases after MW2, but i really hope Treyarch doesnt win a bid... Infinity Ward has done the most with the franchise and are probably big enough now that they could undertake a yearly solo release.

yea the reason i don't like cod 4 isn't because i'm bad at it, back when I played without trying I was better than all my friends and most of the time I played I didn't try at all and ha d a very high KD ratio and almost joined a game battles team. But then I was like why the fuck am I playing this shitty game that takes hardly any skill and has a very small skill gap when I could be playing counter-strike or Halo 3.

It's really not, they're branching off with Modern Warfare and making it their own game series. I'm pretty sure Treyarch won't be producing a Modern Warfare game, and like you said, that's a good thing.
