Inventions

Ive come up with tons of ideas in my life..  Often I even draw them out and dream of being rich off them..

In Jr High I invented the Magnadoodle, almost completely the exact thing.  I even drew out large versions of it that could some day replace chalk boards in schools.  Now someone has made millions off the same idea.

Now Ive seen another of my ideas recently sold on newer cars.  Solar cell roofs that cool your vehicle while your not in it..  Jump in on a hot day and everything is comfortable all thanks to solar.  Now millions will be made off the same idea.

Now my newest idea.  Turn your outdoor BB-Q grill into an outdoor pizza oven..

Pizza ovens are expensive to build and maintain but lots of people have BB-Q grills, many have old ones just collecting rust in the back yard.

My bundle comes with a heavy gauge aluminum lid with a hinged pizza door that secures in the open position with a chain, a smoke stack to release smoke and a composite handle.  A large heavy duty pizza stone and a pizza peel are included. 

As a bonus Their is a 300 page color picture cook book all about cooking in this sort of oven.  Breads, deserts and of course PIZZA.  I think Ill throw in a starter kit with a good sauce and pizza dough mix, just add toppings and your hooked...


Eeeeh..  I'm just thinking to my computer.    Seriously though, I'm sure someone could make a million off this idea and I don't doubt that I will see it on some infomercial some day.

What advantage would this have over baking a pizza in a regular ovem?

I've also come up with lots of ideas in my life.  And usually when I really look into it, it turns out that others have had the same ideas at some point.  If not, I usually seem them within a few years.

I believe that the quality of your idea doesn't matter as much as your ability to manufacture and market the idea.  I was at a barbecue not too long ago where someone was cooking pizzas on a grill and I briefly thought of ways to optimize the process.  I didn't go into as much detail as you did, but what I'm saying is that if we've both thought of it then dozens of other people have too.  So it's not being the initiator of the idea as much as being the one to dive all the way in and take the risks to bring it to mark it that gets one rich...

I met this guy at a party the other day:  VCR Filter

It's the stupidest thing ever but he was really making a decent effort at selling it.  I even saw five or ten people there who actually bought the thing.

You can light a wood fire all under the stone and the grill could heat up to 700 degrees.  Pizza is best when it cooks fast.

I wonder what it would take to patent an idea like this?

It's a good idea but as the last poster pointed out it looks like its been done before.  Here is another link that has several similar listings:

Even though its been done before, it doesn't seem to have taking off yet.  If you have an improved variation you can still apply for a patent and with the right marketing you still could make some money.  As far as applying for a patent, I'm not to sure of the best way of going about this.  Try searching around online.

id like to install a mechanism that lifts and lowers the toilet seat for me when a button is pressed. i dont really care about making money off it, but can someone create and market this so i can buy it?

I found this while searching patents and thought it was interesting.  It shows the stove pipe going under the tent instead of through the top.

Improvements are patentable according to 35 USC 101, but you might get a 103 rejection (for obviousness) from the examiner which you can overcome by arguing a long felt need and/or the fact that you are ready to get into production and put it on the market.  Also, success in the market can overcome the 103 rejection.  Since you made the invention public here, you have one year from the date of your post to file a patent or be barred from getting a patent (see 35 USC 102).
