Any Shroomery Glass Blowers????

Hey shroomers what up? Just wondering if any of you cats blow glass. I think I want to try and learn. I don't really have an idea on where to start though. I guess a mentor is almost a must eh? There was this one cat I met last summer and he was going from fest to fest learning from this lampworker named Lucky. I need to find him again this summer. I don't really know of anyone else I could ask. I guess I need to just poke around and see if there are any local blowers here. Any vets have any input/advice/helpful links for a newb looking to learn the craft? Also is working with glass bad for your health or something. My dad for some reason thinks that it is bad for your health or something and glass workers die young. I don't know if he really knows wtf he is talking about. He is like "you'll get white lung." Is it really unhealthy. I just want to learn something new as I hate my current career and think blowing sick pipes/bubblers/beads would be really fun and worthwhile. I mean look at all those cats who just bounce from fest to fest selling their art. How cool would that be? I think it would be great personally... Anyone have any thoughts on the subject? :sunny:

I blow glass. I just made a thread about this same thing two days ago. Yeah I'm getting the same torch that guy is using tomorrow :smile:.

I'll bring it to festies too if I get around to it (that would be next year).

I don't do so much blowing as I do sculpting though. I'll get to the blowing soon though, I gotta get myself that larger torch first though! Carlisle CC Bench Burner, hoowah!

Edit: just realized I used the word 'though' a lot. Shit.

Yeah I find myself using the word though alot too for some reason lmao... I gotta find someone local to teach me...I hate my job and just want to take a completely different direction in my life I think. This seems like it could be fun, but probably also really challenging. I know it's going to take alot of dedication and hardwork. I think it would be really rewarding though if you could get good at it and put some serious time into it.
