Resource based economy
    #10260499 -

This is something that ive only briefly looked into and maybe someone who understands and believes it could work can answer my question.

Quote:
A Resource-Based Economy is a system in which all goods and services are available without the use of money, credits, barter or any other system of debt or servitude.

venus project

My question is; without money why would anyone work? why would a doctor study for 10 years and work 12 hour days to get up at 6 in the morning when his neighbor who lives in an identical house gets up late and smokes cones all day?

They explain it there but let me ask you, would you really just sit in your room all day if you didn't have to work?

And read more about the venus project. 90% of human labor under that system would be replaced by machines, including doctors and surgeons.

people would become lazy and have no incentive to apply themselves. we would still need people with expert knowledge, there may still be some people who would dedicate their lives to their chosen field but I doubt there would be enough. if we replaced all human labor with machines who would have the knowledge to design and maintain them? new challenges are always arising, could advanced robotics and artificial intelligence deal with things like a new pandemic? these sorts of higher knowledge take years of studying to obtain that in a Logans Run society would not be sort out, why spend your nights reading through text books completing assignments when all your friends are over at bills house having a great party, or why waste a nice day when you could be out fishing.

If tom dick and harry were all living on an island with a resourced based economy they would all have equal access to everything. To be fair they all get equal portions of the food supply, tom and dick consume all their food while harry only has 90% of his, accumulating excess. An unforeseeable event occurs and their food supply is cut, why should harry share what was his portion?

if he gives the others part of his portion there will be disparity which is unfair for harry. he may agree to share on the basis that they would if they were in his position but this is left up to human "good will" something very finicky. He may wish to, but feels he deserves a service in return a back rum, sex on the beach, or an IOU. this becomes the basis for a bartering system, something I feel is unavoidable.

Harry would share whatever he's got, because if he doesn't, Tom and Dick might find another, more 'humane,' source of food :crazy2:

The only people that would become lazy are the shitbags....people who have a genuine concern for others would not.

The incentive would be what was being worked on,instead of making plastic toasters everyday ,society would be solving the real problems and making life better for everyone ,including cleaning up the planet.

It would be no different than today in as far as you would have to be a active member to get everything free,no free ride for the stoner playing video games all day in the back room.Just like there is no free ride for the stoner in the back room today ,no work = no money ,no food ,no weed,no games ,no electricity.

The real big change would be no greedy CEO to reap the rewards of your hard work, once the system was in place for several years ,you would only have to work a few months of the year anyway, because needs would be met ,instead of working all year to increase profit.

Efficiency would be pushed much more than it is now and useless items would dissapear.I have been a strong supporter of this type of system for along time......its profit that drives the evils of today. Its profit that stands in the way of cleaning up factories pollution and its profit that stands in the way of green energy.

To see how things would be better ,just look at what profit holds back.....thats the most touted reason for lack of change ...there is no profit in it...fuck profit ,I would rather see good change for the people ,rather than worry about profit.
