People on the shroomery listen to shitty music, almost without exception. It fascinates me how many people post on here and almost all of them can be divided into people who like three basic types of awful music

-Techno (and all of its indistinguishable brain melting sub-categories)
-Jam Bands (including the dead)
-Tool and other pretentious rock bands

I know fully how much of an elitist asshole I sound like making this post and I accept the responsibility.

to the bitch ass OP. dubstep is taking the fuck over stateside and in europe. GET OVER IT. sorry, its not just a new fad. its been around for a few years now and just starting to develop into more experimental, unique styles. lots of good stuff coming out of the Bay Area too.

you can now hear dub genres at least 4 times a week in my city, with huge monthly's booking international talent. the bitches are hot at these shows and they move hella sexy when that clitoral bass hits. :yesnod: a new music subculture is a welcome addition to the already diverse electronic crowd. i think it's a great thing.

someone post some "good" dubstep in this thread. i honestly don't know what it is. i assume it's something like hip hop/rap? i hate that crap...but i'm open to new things.

unfortunately atm  there is a lot of CRAPPY dubstep out there. like...straight up garbage. as genres get more popular, they get oversaturated. keep an eye out for bay area dub. good stuff.

dubstep is music, like it or not. it is also similar to most other music in the fact that it has many followers and many haters.

I personally enjoy dubstep, The thing is dubstep is such a wide genre compared to many other forms of electronica, so pretty much everything goes, love it or hate it...

Dubstep is great for having freestyle sessions over, to converse over, etc. The lack of many high frequency elements creates an opening for many possibilities. Dubstep is a movement, and its here to stay regardless of your opinion. I try not to press any music on others, but the canvas just seems so large with dubstep that no one could really get bored.

If you can find it, I would recommend checking out Rusko's Essential Mix that aired on the BBC's Radio One on December 13th 2008. You can find various clips from it on youtube.

I must caution you about the clips from youtube though. You miss much of the beauty of his mix because the clips are of single songs and thus abruptly start and stop which robs you of much of the beauty of dubstep which is the transition from track to track. With that said here are a few of my favorite songs from that set.
