Dusty cannabis?
    #10064618 -

Okay, the subject title is a little confusing but we'll see if I can  remedy that.

Is it normal, or acceptable for cannabis to expel a dust or vapor-like wisp into the air while breaking it up?  We're talking high-grade cannabis, most crystally I've ever seen.

Anyone ever noticed this phenomena before?  I'm certain that there is no fire or flame or heat source around.

Are you in the UK?

Cause we see that shit all the time. No weed is that crystally. Is it slightly off colour, like a lighter green than it should be?

Also, is the weed proper dry, so dry that if you grind it, it literally turns to dust?

Its some kind of adulterant added to give it loads of weight, admittedly, I haven't seen sprayed weed in a while though.

THC crystals are like crystals... Mold is like dust.

He said 'dusty' not 'crystally' and as far as I know, only mold will make a dust cloud when you break it up. Keif just falls.

Smoke some and see if you get a sore throat and if it tastes like an musty attic.

If its very dry, it can appear to be dusty when you break it up.
It may be mold, but not likely if its domestic bud.
Sometimes you'll get mold with low quality imports, because they package it when its still moist.
Got a pic?

New growers will also keep it too moist sometimes... I've seen incredible weed ruined through improper curing that lets mold grow.

Also, they could have started with the mold problem pre-harvest and not noticed.

Just keep an eye on it, and worst case scenario... make ISO hash!

ack, it's definitely mold.  this does not bode well :frown:.

So what happens when you inhale vaporized mold?  I've been on this particular batch for a while.  The remainder is very, very affected while at the beginning I hadn't noticed any problems at all.

I do not plan to continue smoking/vaping this btw.

Told ya. :smirk:

Vaping is better than smoking, but I would do some kind of THC extraction. ISO hash or BHO.

Well, I'm taking a mycology class and we just went over this.

Worst case scenario?

Quote:
A fungus ball in the lungs may cause no symptoms and may be discovered only with a chest x-ray. Or it may cause repeated coughing up of blood and occasionally severe, even fatal, bleeding. A rapidly invasive Aspergillus infection in the lungs often causes cough, fever, chest pain, and difficulty breathing.

Aspergillosis affecting the deeper tissues makes a person very ill. Symptoms include fever, chills, shock, delirium, and blood clots. The person may develop kidney failure, liver failure (causing jaundice), and breathing difficulties. Death can occur quickly.

Aspergillosis of the ear canal causes itching and occasionally pain. Fluid draining overnight from the ear may leave a stain on the pillow. Aspergillosis of the sinuses causes a feeling of congestion and sometimes pain or discharge.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspergillosis

Very worst cast scenario? Fungal meningitis or Sinocranial aspergillosis.
