He PM'd me before handing down the ban and I agree with it. People get a little too comfortable and forget that this is a private site which we provide as a free service. All we ask is that people don't verbally abuse us for our troubles. I don't think it's an unreasonable expectation.

I hear everyones' objections but you need to talk to Anno, not me. If Hanky is unbanned Anno will be the one to do it. I wouldn't accept that kind of treatment so I'm not going to say another admin has to. :shrug:

That may be so but when someone invites you into their house, you don't call them a cunt and smear shit all over their walls unless you expect some sort of reaction. I like Hanky and I hope he gets unbanned but I like Anno too and he doesn't deserve to be insulted. People need to take responsibility for their own actions and accept the consequences.

I like how any time someone gets in a dispute, we get a million PMs and support tickets about how "he called me a mean name!", "he left me a rating with poop!", "he said my mom smells funny, I expect him banned immediately!" But when it's an admin who's getting abuse from a popular member, suddenly everybody pops up to lecture us on the importance of restraint and compassion. I recently went through the same thing with Jenny so I have some empathy here. How about this for an idea, we built the Shroomery, we own it and we share it with you for free, if an admin wants to take it personally when someone PMs him to call him a cunt that's one of the privileges we've earned after the thousands of hours we've put into the site.

On a side-note, Anno isn't the hard-ass you guys seem to think he is... I don't even need to talk to him to know Hanky probably could have been back within a week or two if he wanted. Instead he decided to flood the site with puppets and ostensibly hijack accounts with weak passwords. He's digging his own grave with this shit, even I don't have sympathy for him anymore.
