Personally, I don’t understand putting in all the work and months of my time to actually get fruits and then skimp out on drying time to save 12 hours.  In the grand scheme of things another 12 hours is nothing compared to all the time I put in to clean a culture, colonize grain, and finally spawn it.  Maybe 12 hours is enough in some instances but a lot of people before us figured out 24 hours was the standard.  I’d rather have the piece of mind they’re cracker dry and will stay that way

No, it isn’t a good filter.

People used to use 3-4 strips of micropore tape back in the day but theres better options now.

3 layers do the trick just fine. i used them for quite some time without any problem.

ps. all desiccant packs can and should be dried. be it in a microwave, an oven (at low temp with the door not shut tight) or a dehydrator.

No, it isn’t.
Somebody actually did take pictures with a microscope of what micro tape looks like, and there are gigantic holes that the particles were trying to keep out can easily just fly straight through.

Using three layers of bad filtering material might work. Or you could just buy filter stickers. That work guaranteed.

2 questions real quick.

1. Can the substrate not being hydrated enough cause an uneven pinset?
2. Also if the coir substrate looks a little dry right as pins start popping up can I mist it?

Yeah that's my philosophy too. But I really need to test a 12hr batch for a few years here because I do lose more weight the more time it's in. When I left it in over 24hrs sometimes I'd lose a .2-.4 on 40gs wet that should've shrunken to 4gs dried but instead went down to 3.6 dried for example.

When I put it in for 12hrs at 158 it's exactly 1:1 30gs wet comes out to 3gs dried. I like that.

But like you said to err on the side of caution I never do less then 24hrs unless I know I'm going to eat them within the week.

What do you feel is leaving the shrooms when you dry for 24vs12?

Will this be okay to store dehydrated shrooms in? It's a weed container I used to have.

But it's one of those vacuum ones that gets some of the air out. I would also be using O2 absorbers and desiccant packs. I'm asking this because I don't have a lot of big mason jars and I don't want to obtain any if I don't have to. But I do have this.

Everybody has said to stay plastic bags So I'm wondering since this is plastic is it going to be a problem?

I’d use that over plastic bags. As long as it will hold the vacuum. Or seals as well as a mason jar. You can never have too many mason jars though

Storing grain jars upside down?
Someone on the boards refuses to elaborate why they do this. Stating they forgot why, “they just do.”

Is this to help control condensation?
