Gourmet beds
using spent substrate as spawn
After my grows are completed sometimes i give the spent logs to a friend. He then breaks them up and mixes with soaked hardwood mulch we get for free from the town. We dig a 6" deep bed and fill with the spent substrate and fresh mulch. We would lay leaves or more mulch on top as a casing layer and hose it down every few days. 3-4 weeks later he gets a few lbs of mushrooms and 3-6 more flushes over the next few months. So far we have grown blue oyster, phoenix and pink oyster using this method. SRA, or king oyster would also be a good candidate.
