is this stuff ok to use instead of tape? Am i right by saying it will stay solid when p-cooking please respond asap im out of duct tape.

do you just need to seal inoculation holes? i dunno if i would trust it. i have made fruiting chambers that used silicone to seal plexiglass with a rubbermaid bin before and it worked like shit. it didnt hold up very strongly, but thats just my experience. i would just wrap the open enp of the jar with alum foil then screw the lid on if i were you.

lol no, just use aluminum foil, use it as a lid and then screw the top on, if you put silicon in the holes you'd give it negative pressure and you don't want to vaccum pack it, Gl and dont hurt urself

Wait, he doesen't want to screw the band down with tinfoil over the top. It's unnecessary, and he won't be able to see where the inoculation holes are.

Disc > band > 2 layers of tinfoil > PC

Now I'm even more confused. He needs to use the disc and band that the jars come with. After you screw them home, you cover with 2 layers of tinfoil and PC...

i just used electrical tape over the holes, im doing up a bunch of mini jars as agar dishes, i just put a little in each and pcook 15min a lot easier than pour petres what do you guys think?

why don't you get some tyvek from the post office for this? put it over the mouth of the jar and screw the lid on... it works great at keeping water droplets out of your jar when you PC. i've found that water likes to condense in the foil, so the tyvek really helps out.

you can seal the holes with silicone if you use heat resitant silicon, but you have to pop out at least two when you inoc or you will have some nasty vacum effect and lose your whole syringe.... or you could seal them up after you inoc with regular silicon....but on my first batch i didn't even seal the holes and got 0 contams...
