Bush's Tax Break
    #3048364 - 08/25/04 11:38 AM (19 years, 7 months ago)

"Bush: "Look at how great I am. I (yes I, it was not your money, but mine) gave you a trickle of your money back while putting the country in the deepest debt ever. Don't worry, your grandkids can pay it back. Of course, we printed a shitload of new fiat currency which is why real estate, oil and consumer good prices are going through the roof. And don't worry about the value you are getting for your money spent on Iraq. Halliburton has to pay taxes, too! So spend your hundred dollars that I gave you back to stimulate the economy (even though "inflation" has already accounted for every nickel and then some)."

Halliburton has to pay taxes, too!

In theory they have to pay tax's..

Let's start by looking at the problem of Cheney and Halliburton. During the VP's time at the company helm, the number of Halliburton subsidiaries registered in tax-friendly locations ballooned from nine in 1995 to 44 in 1999. The result? A dramatic drop in Halliburton's federal taxes, which fell from $302 million in 1998 to less than zero - to wit, an $85 million rebate - in 1999.

At the same time they were hard at work stiffing U.S. taxpayers, Cheney and Halliburton were happily feasting at the public trough. The company received $2.3 billion in government contracts and another $1.5 billion in government financing and loan guarantees.

you're a scientist?..tee hee...anywho, it was meant to be sarcastic.  It seems funny that people are worrying about this now that Bush is in office when the cost of real estate has been going up just about every year on record.

That real estate is skyrocketing is an illusion (but a damn good one). The dollar has no inherent value. Notice also food, gas, gold and other "real" goods are also zooming.

People with their life savings mostly in dollars in banks are fucked.

Read up on economics and the ripple effects of debt, then report back.

Of course you do. But, please, please, please, don't keep it to yourself. The world desperately needs geniuses like you and to see your genius wasted on anything as pointless as a business would be criminal.

Though the tax cuts were a great idea, they should have been coupled with decreased spending. Yes, there were some unexpected circumstances, but his fucking drug program came straight out of left field.

I think with the exception of the tax cut's and some (just some) of the policy changes he's made concerning intelligence sharing, the rest of his domestic agenda is indefensible.

Creating wealth and jobs would be a terrible thing to do.

I tend to agree.
