actually have both now, as my gramma got me the special edition Pokémon Lite and a copy of Sword
so play Shield on the "tv" (actually an old LED computer monitor with a HDMI plug) and Sword on the portable

the only real advantages of the Lite is that it is slightly smaller (without much sacrifice to screen), lighter, and feels a bit more solid because it is a single piece device
the regular Switch is not huge, but is slightly bigger and heavier, and the controllers slide on and off so sometimes while playing it feels like the device may snap apart (unlikely, but the sense that occurs due to having a seam between the controller and the unit)

the regular switch (now) actually has a longer battery life than the Lite
but you have to remember to turn off things like the rumble function for the controllers in order to maximize its life
while the Lite has no rumble function, so the only thing impacting how long you can play is screen brightness and volume

even without a dedicated screen to plug into, the Switch has a stand so you can set it up on a table and be more relaxed in a chair playing with a wireless controller
while the Lite is handheld only to my knowledge and experience so far

being able to play on the "tv" then just pop the switch out of the dock and continue uninterupted in the shitter is pretty cool tho


things like mario kart, mario, and zelda still work best on the bigger screen
which is a downside of the portable mode -- some games just do not really work on the little screen
trying to play a match of Super Smash Bros with a full set of AI enemies is virtually impossible
as the view ends up zoomed out so far that trying to tell which direction my character is facing to execute attacks is a guessing game
some titles, despite being "able" to go portable, are simply not made for extended play in that mode

Pokémon gets the blessing that this is the first time a real Pokémon game has been available on consoles
so it's been being made for small screens for 20+ years, and works great on small screens
while the transfer to the big screen just kind of amps up the fun and style factor of the flashy attacks

tho maybe this is just me getting old and having bad eyes -- seem to recall a video circulating on youtube of someone playing through the original Dark Souls in portable mode on an overseas flight
so maybe it is feasible to pay close enough attention to the small screen to capture all the little visual cues of more console-centric designed titles

What are your goals?

I'm back on top of some regular MS cube grows... but the cultures I kept in the fridge were unlabaled and I'm not totally sure what variety they are  

Now I need to start some new stropharia cultures so I can make up some prints to give out. And need to start some cultures going on the few other strains I have just to get some fresh prints made and keep those varieties in my collection.

I also want to think about finally growing out the few Pan strains I've had prints of for a years.. hopefully the spores are still viable.
