Are you suggesting that there is only nurture to blame for this difference in gender, that nature has nothing to do with it?

I would imagine having different amounts of hormones between males and females to play some sort of role.

I'm saying there are some inherent differences in the natural biological hormones and such but it's much more about socialization. See my above response. Men are taught to repress their emotions and women are expected to be overemotional.

Of course the male gender is supposed to be less emotional than the female. There's evidence of this in many organisms though there are also a lot of organisms where roles are reversed and the men are the caretakers. My point is that we're conscious beings and the biological differences are not so strong that you can't easily overcome them with a little thought and care on your own part. If you're going to argue that you can't overcome your own predispositions then you know little about human abilities and you're not really analyzing your own life. You can control your own biology, you know. You can choose when to go to the bathroom and you can force yourself to study when you'd rather be off drinking and eating to satisfy your animal instincts. We are conscious and sentient beings, go out and commit a crime and see if you can just get off because men are more aggressive or because your biology dictated that you needed to eat so you just gave into it and stole some food.

So those with mental disorders should just overcome their predispositions?

I think people are slaves to their brain more than you believe. Now I'm not saying nurture has nothing to do with it.

some men are male whores and some women are emotional train wrecks.

You guys always think that actually engaging in discussion means that someone is upset. Maybe I just like to talk about these sorts of issues?

I do feel like he was talking to was being a condescending ass unnecessarily but I get that that's part of his internet persona for whatever reason (it seems like he gets off on thinking he has upset people?) and it's not like I was actually taking it personally.

Social interactions and perceptions interest me greatly and I like getting new perspectives on things like this even if I don't necessarily agree with them. So, thanks for the discussion guys.

At least you're understanding. If only the majority of females were like shroomery girls... but I dream.

Fuck off. Come here, and tell me you love the cold.

So today i get home from working a ten hour day outside(mn cold as fuck) picking up our son from daycare AND a trip to the freak show we all know as walmart, my fiance is in a bitchy mood. So a discussion begins about the weekend ahead and somehow me working a few hours tomorrow turns into me neglecting y family and consiquently shattering any hope of the three of us making it through the weekend  without dying. Ive come to the conclusion that pms is lurking about waiting to rip my dick off and lodge it into one or more of my orifaces. Anyone else got some relatable stories or insight on taming the menstrual beast.

I get the your neglecting your family line from time to time. I try to just apologize and work harder to make sure my wife feels important. Time with does not necessarily equate priorities. Most people spend 40 hours a week at their job, and maybe 15-30 hours a week with their kids, does that mean that a job at Walmart is more important then your child? Just try to be understanding, I've had that fight many times, and now I just am flattered that my wife wants to spend that much time around me. I don't fight withr about it anymore, I just step up my game.

We'll I can officially come to the conclusion that there won't be any agreement within this thread.

The more I try to explain something, the more issues it creates.

So I'm gonna give up while I'm still alive.

This is my area of interest actually. Those with mental disorders can overcome their predispositions through therapy and medication. That's my point. We all have our own predispositions but we can work past them and even influence our own neuronal development through our life choices.

Your entire brain development depends on your life experience. Nature and nurture both play a role, nature in your limitations and your initial growth and nurture in the direction that your emotional and intellectual development will take. All regions of your brain grow and strengthen as you use them. If you're taught to repress your emotions and to not empathize with anyone else your ability to do so shrinks. Literally every single choice you make determines how your brain develops which is why socialization is incredibly important and so is realizing the effect that socialization has on you so you can combat it if you wish.

You can inherently be something but that doesn't mean it's all that you are. That's the thing about consciousness, we are what we are and we are not what we are (read Being and Nothingness if interested in this idea). You always have a choice to follow your instincts and predispositions or to suppress them and choose a different path instead.

There's nothing wrong with having feelings.  I didn't see anyone say anything about it being wrong.

I think the problem MANY men have run into is that MANY women they have run across...all they do is express feelings.  Lots of them.

the vast majority of women I have met, their actions are ruled by emotion and feelings...not logic and thought.

That being said, I have met some wonderful women who are absolutely incredible in every way possible.  They have it all together.  They feel, then they think, then they communicate.

I think it's unfair to say all women are crazy, or "bitches" or whatever terminology has been used so far in this thread. that's not fair.

She claims she was worried.  Sounds made up  lol

I doubt she made it up, I would be worried if my boyfriend didn't come home and I expected him to. Not because I care what he's doing but because I worry really easily about people I love getting hurt.
