You need to source T. bridgesii or some other San Pedro that are known to be strong or ones that are more pure in their genetics like those found in South America.

I had hoped I could grow these so I could take a nice trip every few years with them. Looks like these aren't the ideal cacti for that job.

Oh well, I'll guess I'll learn how to grow with these guys and in a couple of years get a few bridgesii to grow those too.

Thanks for the info!

Yes, do grow them!

They're a great beginner cactus and you'll enjoy growing one or hopefully more. Once established they can grow up to half a metre plus a season. You can still dose on these as well, they're just not as potent as other columnars like T. bridgesii for example.

I am growing a lot of Echinopsis Bridgesii at the moment but I have not yet feasted on the flesh, is it true that it is a darker experience to other columnars that contain mescaline? My Pachanoi are very potent but it is a clear cerebal style of tripping, very lucid.

I believe that bridgesii either has more mescaline or allows your body better digestion of the mescaline through its MAOI profile and the differences are really due to higher doses of mescaline rather than anything else.

Bridgesii and high doses of San Pedro are indistinguishable to me.

Don't PM me with bullshit.  I don't sell or trade cactus and I don't know where you can get any, other than your mother's ass.

I wouldn't say it is "darker" but it is definitely more intense. Where as San Pedro has a more mellow feel to it. Brain is too fried to be anymore specific. :stars:

I definitely enjoy the suffering, the worse the taste the more i can get into it and the harder it is to eat the more i feel i have earned the trip.

Definitely crackers haha

I still enjoy chewing on dried shrooms and the worse they taste the better it is  when you chew up cyanescens you can feel the alkaloids being absorbed through the blood vessles in yer gums and if you close your eyes there are CEV's.

When you first start doing it you feel the urge to vomit but mind over matter the fucker, suppress the gag reflex and suffer the taste then it becomes nice

Hahahaha  right on GGTbod

I love the taste of dried shooms & know exactly what your talking about with that feeling on your gums. Its like the feeling you get at first when munching on good cid, just minus the taste. As for cactus.... One time with that brutal syrup was enough for me, extration & gel caps are my savior

All this talk of Bridgesii, can't wait to give mine a go after next seasons growth. Maybe I should get some cuttings to try in the mean time :evil2:

Does this look normal? Or is something wrong here?

Most of the scaring looks normal, other than maybe the darker bit on the very left, has it allways been there, or appeared recently? Does it feel softer than the rest of the cactus?

Thanks for the reply.

That area on the left is my concern. It looks like it's slowly spreading across the cactus. When I first got the cutting the slight discoloration was there but it seems to be more pronounced over the last couple of days. It's not soft.

that seems to happen on most log grown cacti. the new growth should be perfectly fine.

that soil looks very porous. which is good.

the stick, not so much. but it should work.

:goodluck: with it

Yea it's funny because I sifted through and picked out a ton of sticks and was happy with it but now that I look at it, theres still lots in there.

Thanks for the advice, I'll just leave them alone for a while.

Can't wait to see some little guys popping up.

Been a while since I updated this adventure due mainly to the fact that I had all but given up on growing the cactus. Before giving up, I grew into the habit of putting my cuts in a window so they could get sunlight daily. Well, one day my cat laid her body across them and when a friend went to get the cat off the cacti, the cat ended up ripping one out of the soil. No roots. Absolutely no roots had been thrown down. I put the cacti on the shelf and basically gave up.

I went on a 9 day vacation a couple of weeks ago and left the thermostat between 85-90. When I got back to my surprise, pups!!! Simply amazing. Here's pics of the day I got home:

One of the cactus that sprouted a pup was a cut that I had kept aside for a friend to grow. He never got it so I decided to use it for comparison to the other cacti in the soil. It's had no water, no soil in months!

I decided to just put them all outside in a shaded area on my porch. The pups are responding and growing like crazy. Here's pics of them 2 weeks after the above pics:

Advice for care is appreciated!

You gave up on them but they never gave up on you, now you are the bitch in this cacti-human relationship  Cacti are never in as much urgency as humans for anything except the pollination of their flowers.

I got a beauty of a little 3 inch chunk that i almost gave up on, it sat in the soil upright for several months and nothing happenned, it spent over 8 month on its side (log style) for nothing, i gave it one last chance upright last summer and this spring it has one of the best pups ive ever seeen bursting out of it verticle no fuckin on and it has totally colonised its pot with roots.

This is the stump on 04.05.11 the pup is almost 4 inches tall now, it had been almost 2 years since it was a part of my eldest trich "Ole Stumpy" when i took a pup/branch for ceremonial puposes
