Why do we cry and animals don't?
    #5853318 -

:gethigh:  :gethigh:  :gethigh:

Reading the other thread made me think of this. Why do we as humans shed tears to cry? Animals don't do the same, however, they do "weep". Does that mean it's not to the same emotional extent as humans? Why do we as humans cry for different reasons? Happy tears, sad tears, abhorrence tears, fear tears etc...

I know animals experience emotions, is it safe to say it's not on the same level as humans?

There's a good quote from donnie darko...

Donnie: Why should I mourn for a rabbit like he was human?
Karen Pommeroy: Are you saying that the death of one species is less tragic than another?
Donnie: Of course. The rabbit's not like us. It has no... keen look at something in the mirror, it has no history books, no photographs, no knowledge of sorrow or regret... I mean, I'm sorry, Miss Pommeroy, don't get me wrong; y'know, I like rabbits and all. They're cute and they're horny. And if you're cute and you're horny, then you're probably happy, in that you don't know who you are and why you're even alive. And you just wanna' have sex, as many times as possible, before you die... I mean, I just don't see the point in crying over a dead rabbit! Y'know, who... who never even feared death to begin with.

I think their emotions do not weigh such a great toll on them. It also depends on the animal, if i'm not mistaken some of them do not have the proper physical features required to produce tears...

I know some animals do cry. Like my dog for instance. You will be able to tell if she was b/c there is like hard matted up hair from the tears drying up in comming from the corner of her eyes.

I think dogs show emotion in various ways.

I am not very receptive to cats because I'm allergic to them.

Quote:
All animals with mobile eyes are equipped with a tearing system that keeps their eyes lubricated, protecting their eyes from the elements and so on. People tell tales of animals such as elephants and dogs weeping when punished. However, even if such an animal does shed tears, there is no scientific evidence that the animal is expressing emotion in doing so.

You may be insecure about your own latent homosexuality, you should eat some mushrooms and ponder that.

You DO have earrings in both ears, after all, skunky.
