found near the coast on decaying alder log - ID?
    #5090682 -

I found these mushrooms growing on/near a decaying alder log in and around a stand of alder trees about 15 miles inland from Seaside, OR. Thought they were actives at first, but they do not stain blue. Cap Cinnamon brown, white stem, hollow, partial veil, purple brown spore print, some black bruising on cap edges, stem bruised light brown(not blue). Smell like actives - slight bitter mushroom smell. Anyone know what these are?

They look more like Psathyrella to me. Psathyrella should crumble pretty easily while Stropharia is a sturdier mushroom.

In my book... "my" book, those arent actives but a very nice find none the less (it's always a good find when you find a mushroom.. gives you that goooood feelin'). Something though I must say... That sunset looks very very very x50 beautiful...reminds me of Texas somehow.. and I never been there. wait is tghat a moon? lol it's still very pretty.

I agree, probably not active. They weren't crumbly, quite sturdy and caps curled under with slightly pointed umbo on a few that I dried.(Hershey kiss shape)

That's the full moon risin'.....just after that I ran into a herd of about 40 elk with the sunset behind them and the full moon rising on the other side of them. I Filmed this--no stills, but it was an amazing sight~~~~~
