Casing a mycobag
    #3098434 -

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has any special techniques for casing a grow bag, maybe something similar to the tek in which two pint cakes are cased in the bottom of an empty 1 gallon jug, which seems to work so well because they fit perfectly and don't leave much room around the sides.  Any ideas on some suitable, household containers which could be used to case a grow bag, or would the crumble and case method work just as well in a flat rectangular container such as an aluminum baking pan? :mushroom2: :mushroom2:

I would wait till after the first flush then cut the bag, harvest, dunk, and case in bag. Crumbling uses up valuable food.

couldn't you just clip the bag closed again after the first flush?

I've exclusively (100's) cased in bags. Once fully colonized open and case fold top of bag back down and continue to incubate, once the casing is ready for fruiting just cut the bag down to just above the casing level. Works very good.

find a container at walmart that is closest to the size of the block.you could try fruiting it as a block if you like.

Arnt you supposed to crumble and mix anyway when the mycelium is 70% colonized?

Wouldnt that make your block no longer a block?

NO. But tell you the truth I have no clue what your talkin. Crumbling as far as aiding colonization or crumbling for laying out a casing? It may be that Mycena's post threw me off.

I meant mash and mix, to make colonisation go faster.

What if you don't want to have the first flush in the bag?

Is there a reason that it won't work if you just case it after colonization is complete?

casing right away and having your first flush from the casing will give you higher yields, right?

Thanks for the suggestions, my friend decided to 50/50 case after dunking, in the bottom of a plastic OJ container, made a great fit.
