yeah, MTV sucks ass.

Date My Mom... WTF????????? this show is horrible. it prompts these so-called mothers to whore out their daughters to apparent "hotties". i have watched that show before in trainwreck-mode (it was so awful, yet i couldn't help but watch) and i have heard mother's say things like "you should pick my daughter cause she has a great personality and an even better ass!" to the guy. i just thought that was really sad.

There was a point not too long ago where they were going in the right direction, but then they took a complete u-turn and fucked their image up beyond repair.

my sister buys into this shit and watches those shows. She is almost 15. I see the striking similarities far too often. Her way of thinking contradicts mine in a huge way. Not to mention the most godawful music. Seriously there is not one song I like from MTV.

Dude, one night a couple summer ago I ate 4 hits of really good WoW, my one friend ate an eighth of really incredible shrooms, another friend ate 2 grams....and this other friend took 2.3gs; his first time tripping. His girlfriend was chilling with us (she smokes but doesn't trip), she was still in high school at the time.

We were listening to music and having a blast, but she wasn't in our state of conciousness, so she wanted to watch TV...so she put it on, mute so we could still listen to the music. Well, she puts on MTV...miracle makeover, or something equally lame. I watched it for a little bit, mezmerized at how stunningly & disgustingly awful it was. It was like watching a trainwreck, I had NO desire whatsoever to be seeing that shit (and I couldn't even hear what they saying, this was merely the images), but I couldn't look away either.

My sense of time was gone, but I know it didn't last long....we went outside and chilled on my friends back porch and left the girl to her own devices. I can still remember how fake & lame it was....how much DRAMA, pointless fucking drama, and as I said, we had Pink Floyd on, so I was hearing that, not the bullshit they were saying on the show.

Fuck MTV, I can't say that enough.

tell me about it... but it wasn't always like that... remember the good times of mtv, when they still had proper artists, headbangers, beavis & butthead, aeon flux, the maxx and mtv oddities? those were the days, man!

They had a soap opera called Spyder Games a few years back. Awful doesn't even begin to describe it. My sister watched it & I watched it with her a few times (don't ask why, as I have no idea....).


It was lame to the extreme.

They're not even good enough to be called "shows". They're just bastardized half hour segments of California based entertainment geared at the developing minds of young america. The "shows", songs, documentaries...the only message they give out is: "eat this, drink that, wear this, smoke that, drive this, buy that."

I've got a few opinions here.

1.) I could watch NEXT all day. It's so deliciously fattening. It's still people on people action and I don't get out much. However, they act ALL the time. Every single line they say to the camera was told to them by a producer off camera before they said it. It's bad and I love it.

2.) The responses here are so painfully predictable. You guys are easier to stereotype than the MTV generation itself. "Oh my god, I was listening to Pink Floyd and tripping and MTV pissed me off." Yeah? Ok.


That's all I got. It's trash but so is a lot of other stuff.

yeah... i mean, i don't listen to Pink Floyd, but i do trip on the regular.  so, you may or may not have me pegged. 

i used to watch MTV quite often...  i just feel like i'm too old for it now or something.  i also no longer want to identify to the lifestyle portrayed on there and i'm only mildly entertained by the sheer stupidity of it all.   

basically i'm saying i'd rather watch The Office or something like that. 

... but i do stand by my previous post about Date My Mom... cause that shit is wrong. :wink:

I think the point we're all trying to make here is that it's fake crap, I mean if there was a show where someone was literally trying to date someone's mom, and it was documented, that would be some serious entertainment but if you listen to the dialogue on those shows they talk like mindless, emotionless robots. MTV is basically selling ideas, not content.

yeah... the show might actually be called Date My Daughter. the basic premise is there is a "hottie" who gets to pick one of 3 girls for a date, but he doesn't get to see the girls at all... he must take each of their moms on a date instead. during the date, the mom must then whore out her daughter to the guy so he feels inclined to pick her. it's weak.
