The sad thing is that people are so stupid that they fall for scams like this. I worked for an internet provider and came across stuff like this all the time.

People also do not realise how easy it is for someone to get their details from Facebook and then use them to commit identify fraud and other crimes. You can easily find someone's occupation, number, name etc. If their profile is private then all you have to do is create a profile and use a picture of a hot woman. People will add the fake one and then you can get the details you need. I know someone who works in debt collection and this method is used to track people down although where I am it is against the law. However, if you use your own profile it is not against the law.

I remember when my ex took one of these things seriously lol
