Gasket seal mono tub
    #29705727 -

Hello everyone! It has been since 2004 that i've done anything mycological. I don't have too much hands on experience but back in 2004 I studied day in and day out. I have a vast knowledge on this subject. I have decided to give er' a go for old time sake.

I am confused when it comes to the modern mono tub specifically the gasket seal sterlite model. The one with the blue gasket. I have been for weeks using ai to understand modern Cubensis methods and techniques.

I have a beautiful lc vial thriving & soon to go into grain spawn bags. I purchased eight of the 54 quart gasket seal tubs & am deciding where & how to drill these holes.

Through my ai research i found out that the casing layer we used to use has been found to be unnecessary. That blew my mind & I'm still having a hard time believing this. Please correct me if this is not a modern finding.

So here is the reason I am back is to inquire info on how many holes, where & diameter? My ai & I have discussed for days that all that is needed is four 1" holes drilled into these 54 quart gasket seal tubs then cover with discs. The discussion also was that there is no need for plugging the holes which is a hard one to swallow considering I have a good understanding of c02 & fae. Please anyone explain if this is a new thing we do with Cube or has my ai been feeding me shit for weeks.

I was learning about the gasket seal like it was some kind of sorcery that solves having to plug, tape, layer myco tape, etc. I am super confused as I sometimes feel ai is a yes man.

From all the modern youtube videos I see the common 6 hole set up & no 4 hole but rarely I see vids using the gasket seal.

I may potentially have a gnat problem so that is why I purchased the gasket tubs.

So if any one can please set this info straight for me I would be ultra grateful.

I have a 54 quart sterlite gasket seal tub that I will be adding in like 15 lbs compost & I need to know what actually works with this specific tub. My lights & heat are set automation which I think is pretty dang sweet. Consider I may have gnats lingering. I've spent quite a bit this go as I'm an adult now with my own place to do this.

I feel like 4 holes will just choke the bulk grow & that I need 6 holes but of what diameter. I think 2 up high & the rest go ground level or a little above...

I was hoping to basically not fan or mist, wait until harvest to open the mono tub. Pretty sure this is possible as that was why the mono tub was invented & actually i'm only familiar with the double tub tec so this is new to me using one tub with gasket.

Oh, also, the substrate depth will be about 4" & that is to be the placement of the bottom holes. I think that is right?

I appreciate anyone who comments whether you are an experienced cultivator or just one with knowledge.
Thanks

1) Do we not use a casing layer anymore or is this specific feature of the gasket seal?

2) Hole diameter, placement, 4 or 6?

Most (western, at least) AI is particularly bad at cube growing. IDK if it's censorship of the training data or added as post training but it just kinda has shit answers across the board, even for frontier models.

Nutritious casing layer (poo of any kind, peat, etc) is unnecessary. Non-nutritious psuedocasing layer (coir, optionally verm) is still the move.

Pasty's EX dial mono thread is the go-to for hole placement/size info.

Yeah pseudo layer or no casing is super interesting. I swear ai is a yes man. I hit it from 50 different angles trying to get the same answer & that tactic has aided me immensely with ai. I just have gut feelings you know. That is why i'm here.
Thanks for the link, much obliged.

Only successful ways I've used ai to learn about mycology was using a action to prompt loop and create an injection for memory though there's other ways like using the correct ais rather than the llms that most providers use there's ones that interpret ur prompt and create scripts to do what's requested in prompt runs the code id any errors jthrow it resolves and runs the script to do what's requested rinse repeat loop from onw prompt to successful action

Welcome back!:mushroom2: lots has changed, and lots has stayed the same since 2004. I highly suggest reading theHitchikers guide. It will help bring you up to speed on what the best mode of action is for a returning cultivator like yourself.

Will stay tuned for updates :camping:

Yeah ai is tricky but once one utilizes it daily it makes sense but still, some of the response are super iffy. I have learned & discovered some amazing things through ai. I love it even though it sometimes infuriates me haha!

I think i get why my ai was off. In the link you sent the accumulated holes equal close to the four 1" holes but he has no disc or tape covering. I am planning to use filter patches (discs) to cover the holes & by using the discs that lessens the fae & c02 ejection. So I think the 4 holes at 1" is correct except ai did not take into consideration the restricting of air flow from the discs. So to do this I would definitely need the six 1" holes with discs to even it out!

My friend, i know you just sent a link but that link spoke volumes to me! Yes, thank you!

Sorry i'm trying to get the right response to the right person so I copied pasted.

Man, The last and only way i cruised Shroomery back then was on web tv haha!!!

Yes, I will check that out! Thanks for the friendly greeting! Oh man, i'm getting the feeling back from when I used to pretty much live on this site! I can't for the life of me recollect my old user name? I wonder if it's still here? I had hundreds of posts.

You're welcome, happy to have ya here:hug::mushroom2: you are not alone there, this is where I spend most my time on the internet:hehehe: it exists somewhere in the ether, if you scroll enough old posts you may come across it. Sometimes I scroll old posts for fun, makes me chuckle at how different the dynamic is and sometimes cringe at the information or interactions lol

Okay check this out. I went to set my ai straight by conveying what he missed about the restricted air flow from the discs then I felt all cool & stuff before I was told the disc I will be using are the bees knees when it comes to passing air flow! So I did not know there was a difference in discs. I will have synthetic filter 2.5" discs from Midwest grow site. Am I missing something here? I was like, " 6 holes ai, put that in your pipe & smoke it!" Now I'm back to maybe four 1" holes with these specific discs!!! Holy wow I need schooling in this area haha!

I couldn't agree more. There is only a few things I really am unsure of so i'm grateful to hear from you all. I never actually did a bulk grow but I studied until my eyes melted! I did do the classic PF tek in a cold ass attic when I was younger. It worked & it was super cool! B+ in I think half pint jars cake style over perlite. I was gonna' say over ice haha! So I'm a big kid now & i'm doing big boy stuff. Why, because I can. Because i've always wanted to experience opening a cover to a dense beautiful steamy canopy! Just once....maybe twice haha! I'm annoyed by my indecisiveness but i'm having a lot of fun too.

Then you've picked a good place to accommodate that.

That is some insane rhizomorphic growth in the photo there wowza! Is that a chunk of a fruit body on agar?
