Re: Mimosa or Acacia In DMT extraction...? [Re: Bardy]
    #28523588 -

STB, or straight to base, doesn’t work with Acacia because of the oils and fats.

I’m not sure whether you can do STB with the added mini A/B for Acacia though, I’ve never tried it myself. Even if I had mimosa though I’d still acid cook it first because it’s more effective at getting all the alkaloids out I think. STB seems like it cuts corners for the sake of being easier but possibly at the cost of losing some final product.

So all in all:

- Acid cook powdered bark

- base

- naphtha pull

- mini A/B

- freeze precipitation

You can't STB acacia, and mimosa has a higher yield than acacia confusa. Acacia acuminata is very high yielding, but I doubt you'll be able to get that anywhere outside of Australia.

I don't defat... I pressure cook, base, mini a/b, pull and freeze.

The easiest Tek is with mimosa, no heat required... Base and mix naptha,  wait 24 hours, pull. I've seen guys on here process kilos like that. Ridiculous yields.

I think the reality that if you are doing 40-50mg hits, most people will never finish 5 grams in their lifetime. Shit gets weird hey.

Thank you for this interesting thread.
may i ask how much dmt one would extract from lets say 250g of mimosa powder?

Depends on the quality of your material, but between 2.5g and 5g would be a realistic expectation.

Thanks, is there any marked change in the solution once you add the lye to the DMT acetate solution? I never relied on pH strips and always just based until I saw the freebase crash out, so I'm guessing I'll have to use some pH strips finally to make sure it's basic enough. I'll give this a try in the future and post my results. I'm still curious to hear the STB tek or any abridged tek from my aforementioned method that will save me any time and energy.

Thanks!

Dunno what you're doing man... are you following a tek?

Probably spend some time over at the Nexus and get schooled, that's where I cut my teeth. Once you have the basic teks down and understand properly you can start doing your own thing.

Yeah, I’ve never seen DMT freebase crash out when adding lye… I’m not sure what you’re talking about either. In the past when I haven’t had pH test strips I’ve just added lye to the bark tea until it turns black. That way you know you’ve added enough for sure… and it gets a certain soapy smell about it.

As for the stuff crashing out, it could be that it’s mostly just sodium acetate because there is likely an excessive amount of acid in solution that doesn’t form a bond with the alkaloids.

But anyway, pH test strips are dirt cheap… you can buy hundreds for a few dollars

When you add a strong basic solution to an acidic solution that contains a product which will fall out of solution at the right pH, you’ll get crashing out as soon as you start pouring that basic solution in, even if you haven’t added enough of the basic solution to completely neutralise all the acid. So this is not a good way of knowing how much base to add.

What you ideally want to do is keep adding basic solution until the crashing out stops. That way you know you’ve added a slight excess of basic solution (which is what you want).

Another thing you could do is calculate the amount of sodium hydroxide to add to the acetic acid/DMT solution using molar ratios. I did this out of curiosity one time when I was extracting mescaline and didn’t have any pH test strips… I’m not a chemist though and I’ve completely forgotten how to do it lol. But you can learn about it online if you’re interested.

Do you grow the psychotria Northerner?

Between this thread and the entities thread you have made me NEED to try DMT. That huge double arched portals entity is fucking madness. I need to get started sciencing some of this stuff up.

Wonder if it'd grow in SEQ?

Yeah I’m sure it grows there well, as long as you’re not too far inland where you get frosts or anything… there is a nursery in SEQ that sells Psychotria sp. that are locally grown.

Re: Mimosa or Acacia In DMT extraction...? [Re: Northerner]

Whoa, how does mimosa have a higher yield than acacia? I think that's false from my experience. Mimosa yields roughly 10 grams per kilo whereas acacia confusa yields roughly 20 grams per kilo. The supposed DMT content of Mimosa is 1% and for acacia I believe it's supposedly an even split between n,MT and DMT. I've personally only ever gotten 10 grams from 3 pulls on Mimosa and got 20 grams from 3 pulls on acacia. In testing the quality, I've honestly never noticed that mimosa DMT crystals are stronger or more pure than acacia DMT crystals, despite the fact that acacia is supposedly half n,MT. Please tell me your reasoning for stating that Mimosa yields more than Acacia because that's never been my experience and if I'm missing something I'd definitely like to know. Also, has anyone ever had success doing acacia pulls without the hot water bath and at room temperature like you'd do with mimosa?

Hit me up, I'll get you some psychotria leaves to propagate. Will grow just fine down there.

Excellent, thanks Bardy. I'll look it up. I know a friend in Lismore tried growing some at one point but that's a truck load wetter than where I am.

Do you have any experience with A. confusa vs A. acumminata? Just scoping what else is about the traps.

Can you tell me how you yield more with mimosa than with acacia? I've gotten double the yield - 20 grams with acacia and 10 grams on mimosa, so am very curious to hear about this. Also, I've been reading about defatting and read that defatting with acacia can be difficult because emulsions occur... Has anyone ever had difficulty with emulsions in doing the defat with vinegar mini a/b step? Someone recommended doing a defat step with xylene before adding the lye, would this defat step be more effective than the vinegar defat step at the end of the extraction?

No two plants are the same. Years ago mimosa was double the yield of acacia, these days I don't know what's commercially available.

Don't count your chickens, just cook them.

Eleusis84, check out these notes if you’re interested in what other people have found when rigorously checking concentrations of alkaloids in A. confusa.

https://wiki.dmt-nexus.me/Acacia_confusa

And Mimosa

https://wiki.dmt-nexus.me/Mimosa_hostilis

All your questions will likely have already been answered on this site somewhere… it’s seriously good 😁

But yeah, from a quick glance it looks like Acacia confusa and Mimosa hostilis probably on average yield similar concentrations of DMT on average. A. confusa does have a significant amount of nMT though on top of the DMT content, so maybe this is why your yields are higher.

No one can tell you for sure. If you really want to know the truth about your own extractions then you’ll have to get them analysed.
