Hey all I said was that people should be careful with laser pointers, especially high powered ones.  I'm happy to just leave it at that.  You're actually the one who is making a big deal of this.

People do alot of immature and annoying things with laser pointers.  I have witnessed myself people directing them at performers, you can't pretend it doesn't happen.  I am merely encouraging some consideration for others if you insist on bringing one.

Get a good tent, good quality material that keeps heat out, bring a shade tent or some form of shade. Lots of bottled water. A torch for night time. Stereo for the campsite. Bring wet whipes to freshen up.

It is not even about it being a man or a woman to me.  I just wouldn't think it was very cool if someone did that to me, especially if I was tripping or having a good time listening to the music, so it is something I would refrain from doing to others.

No in my opinion a woman dressed half naked is not necessarily objectified, nor is a woman with a laser directed at her ass.  Thinking that because a women is half naked you should be free to do what you like to her is where the objectification comes in.

Like I said, it is not a major issue for me, I just said be careful because many venues will disapprove, as well as other patrons of the event.  If you think I am being uptight then fine, I can deal with that.  If you think that it is ok to shine lasers at people for your own amusement then ok, but I still think it is childish and all around lame, so you're just going to have to find a way to deal with that.

If somebody shined a laser pointer at me when I was tripping balls at a fest I'd go up to their face and act super pissed off and aggressive about it just to fuck with them then once they're about to piss their pants I'd crack a huge smile and just start cackling

OK

I'm sorry I didn't mean to hurt you, but I still think you're rude.  Don't feel bad you probably can't help it.  Have fun pointing lasers at people rather than meeting them

I will when you stop responding to me.

Seriously what is your problem?  You don't like that I disapprove of bringing laser pointers to shows as a means of entertainment?  Is it personal?  I don't get it.

I agree with you Moonrock. If I saw someone shining a laser at my wifes ass I would probably be pretty upset. I'm not sure what I would do, maybe just say something or pour a bunch of water in their tent. It's not that big of a deal, but it is childish and rude.

Its rude because a lot of women are self consious about the way they look. They don't know that you're complimenting them, in a childish way. A self consious woman might think you guys are saying "wow, that girl needs to get some ass implants." A more manly thing to do would be to go compliment them with words or give them some flowers. You're definitely not getting laid by pointing the lasers at them.

Not all girls that wear skimpy clothes are looking for attention from you. Sometimes it's just hot out or it's stylish.

Shining the lasers around the stage can be a lot of fun. Sometimes at a festival one person will shine a laser and then all of a sudden there's 20 lasers beaming into the same area. It can be funny if you're high enough.

That laser pointer stuff can go either way. If you're not being annoying, it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't see why it's spawned an argument though

You seem like the most boring and uptight person to be at a festival with. We're talking about huge events not some tiny venue where you're seeing Beatles tribute bands

The laser pointer thing spiraled out of control

Lasers are cool, and well suited for a festival environment, but shining them in the direction of performers' faces is not cool.

Partially nude women are rad, but a woman choosing to be partially/fully naked does not mean she wants you shining laser beams at her ass.
