You are correct about MN skiing being less than "decent".  There are a couple of places that are ok if you go the day after a good snow, but otherwise its just that icy man made shit.  That's why I take a vacation to the mountains every winter.

The plans so far this year are to hit up Bozeman in mid-February.  If there are any MT shroomerites who enjoy skiing or snowboarding, hit me up!

Man the Midwest hasn't got any snow yet. Until today the day I have to drive 5-6 hours to northern Wisconsin. Its gonna be one fun drive.

I hope the car im renting is better then the fucking cube or other shit cars Ive been getting. I have a feeling a none aerodynamic box with an engine the size of a moped isn't that good in the snow.


Im looking forward to ice skating/ playing hockey, Gonna try to make it to a mountain again and attempt to snow board. Snow bunny hill here I come

Lutzen is pretty nice.
If you're in the cities, Afton will hold you over until you can get out to the mountains.

I can't wait to hit the slopes. I only went once last year. I lived in Colorado for the first half of winter and I didn't even get out to the mountains. I disappoint myself.

I haven't been to Lutsen since I was real young, but I heard it was nice for MN.  Afton is where I usually go, but it gets boring pretty fast when you are used to mountain skiing.  Welch is as good as Afton IMO, but a little more expensive.  I grew up 15 minutes from Buck Hill, but that was only fun when I was a kid.  I haven't skied Buck in at least a decade!

I can't wait until February!

Yeah, it's the best that MN has. I agree that Afton is not as good as the mountains, but you have to work with what you have. Afton can still be a blast, and it's not nearly as expensive.

I've never been to Buck or Welch even though I grew up like 20 minutes away from them. I learned and grew up at Hyland, which is barely even a hill.

I only skied Hyland once, and vowed to never ski there again.  That place sucks!  Although they have a pretty nasty looking freestyle jump that you can see from 494...
