PNW Spring Stuntzii
    #12449541 -

Brought my camera with me today to take some pics of the stuntzii that I found yesterday and left to mature.  I will go back in a few days to take more pics and check on their progress.

Thanks for looking!

I prefer the old fashion way of letting them mature, as in, still in the ground

He never said he picked them. He did let them mature in the ground.

A found them yesterday and picked a bunch and left the young ones.  I went back today to take pics of the pins and a the 2 I picked today were broken at the base so I decided not to let them go to waste

Nah, they only like the ones that don't get you high.  I bring them plenty of chanterelles, matsutake and king boletes in the fall and I pick morels with my dad in spring.  They were the ones that first got me interested in mushrooms, I found a shaggy mane in front of their house when I was in middle school and that was my first real mushroom find.  I would go to the local park and pick every mushroom I could find and try to ID them in their field guide.

I started picking actives when I was a sophomore in highschool.  There was this big empty scotch broom field right off the freeway in north bend that was loaded with stuntzii and baeos that many people would pick at.  The field has since been destroyed for development and mushrooms no longer grow there :frown: I haven't found a baeo since.

Very cool. That field sounds like heaven. Too bad it's gone. That's vastly different than my experience growing up. My parents weren't into mushrooms though I did learn the love of plants from my mother and hunting, fishing and respect for nature from my father.
