A Ticket For Rush: Website Raises Money To Banish Limbaugh

Would you look at that? Bill passed. Time for Limbaugh to live up to his promise. But just in case he backs out, enter "A Ticket For Rush," a website with the sole purpose of accepting $1 donations (through PayPal) to buy Rush a first-class ticket to Costa Rica.

If Rush refuses to accept this generous offer, the money will be donated to Planned Parenthood. And on top of that, if they raise more money than is necessary (or not enough), everything will still go to Planned Parenthood.

So let's make this happen. Not only would Rush be gone, but he may be disappointed with what Costa Rica has to offer: things like, you know, universal health care.

Obviously he was impressed by those nice Copelandia that grow in the pastures around Limón. Sure, similar to the blue meanies he could find in his favorite Florida pastures, but the deciding factor was the easy availability to Habanos cigarros.

Don't get your hopes up, he can do his show from anywhere on the planet.

Ah, my friend, but Rush pays cash for his medical care. So wherever he moved, he could care less about the local medical situation there. But he isn't moving out of the country any more than the other entertainers who vowed they were moving to Canada and France when Bush was re-elected. Grand ultimatums like that are almost always ignored.

No, but if he thinks universal health care, or anything close to it, will be the downfall of America, why would he move to a place with universal health care?  Wouldn't he have to wait months to be seen?

As has been pointed out already, duh -

- Rush didn't say he'd move to Costa Rica to live there, he said he'd go to Costa Rica for any (non-trivial) medical procedures.

- Since Rush is not a citizen of Costa Rica, he would of course not be a participant in their universal health care system. He would receive care in one of the many fine private health care clinics that flourish there, and he would pay out of his own pocket for that care.

Okay, so why couldn't America set up a system like Costa Rica has, in which everyone gets free health care, unless you want to pay for it?  And if having universal health care destroys a country's health care system, like tea baggers claim, then why would you go to a place with that system in place?  Shouldn't Costa Rica's health care system be in complete tatters because of their universal health care policy?

Is it or not?  I don't know.  I wouldn't go there.

And their health care isn't free.  It just costs nothing for bums.  That doesn't make it free unless doctors and nurses are enslaved, which they could be for all I know.  Or care

This thread is full of LOLs.  Does anyone here actually listen to Rush on a regular basis?  Did anyone actually hear the comments he made or are you just forming your opinion from internet blogs, media reports and out-of-context audio clips?  Of course its a rhetorical question since its obvious who does and doesn't listen to his show.

There are 2 things you can count on:
1)- Most of the stuff that gets reported in the media (especially on the internet) about what Rush says on his show has been distorted and blown way out of proportion.
2)- Rush is a complete media whore and he loves every moment of the attention.  He even says things on purpose sometimes just to tweak people and see how far it will go.

You people take Rush way too seriously, and the whole Costa Rica thing is just another example of it.

I listened to the whole thing.  Every word.  It is quite clear in the context that he was talking about going there for doctor visits.

Which was probably schtick anyway.  Who cares?

My advice is to find those things that give pleasure and do them often without too much attachment and relax and wait for the show to end.

I like free markets and all. Truly I do, at least in general, but there needs to be some kind of oversight in recognition of sustainability. Life works the same way, on a bunch of sustainable systems. Why not honor what made us what we are and take some lessons? Nature FTW!
