Hare Krishna
    #9736640 -

I was invited to a Hare Krishna gathering... I am debating whether to go or not. Honestly, it scares me, and seems a bit like a cult to me. Can anyone tell me anything about it? I've heard about Hare Krishna before, but I really don't know much about it... Just from what I've heard its really strange....

Sorry to offend. Just trying to help. I've never seen one or read about this group.

They are kind of like ultra-hippies from what I gather. I think they are the type of people who went to India in the 60's and adopted some of its culture.

They are probably weird, but at the same time very chill.

Hare Krsna is the "Kitchen Cult" of belief systems.

No sex, no booze, no intoxicants, no meat, no mushrooms, no garlic (SRSLY).

All you do is meditation, yoga, cooking and cleaning and learning vedic  texts and learning hindu.

They make great vegetarian food though.

Don't worry, they won't hurt you, they'll probably try to get you to buy their books and join their cult though, but they're not pushy about it.

I love having intellectual arguements with them and stealing kisses from the female nuns (they're not allowed to do "things" with men, but I'm not in their religion, so why should I care? :P)

What? No garlic? Fuck that shit, then. I fucking needs to have myself some garlic. And Chili peppers. Lots of them. Mmmmmm... Lamb Vindaloo with 6 plump garlic cloves and 30 Chilies FTW.

I would have thought so, what with it being an Indian sect and all. Besides growing mushrooms, one of my other big hobbies is cooking and Indian cuisine is one of my favorites. I can't really think of an Indian curry that doesn't use heaps of garlic.

they're fine, friendly and harmless.  If they're a hare krishna, they won't try to put you through anything that you wouldn't want to do.  There's many of them that are actually very supportive of your own philosophy and will give you advice(hopefully neutral) in the furthering of your journey through life.

I hope that makes sense bc I'm not gonna delve any further into it.

I eat 5 days a week at the Hare Krishna joint.

Fucking hell they can cook, the most delicious food I have ever had in my life.

$7 (that's Australian dollars, can't even get a subway or a meal at McD's for that), all you can eat. Like 4 hot dishes (awesome rice, dhal's, curries, satays) + salad (mint yougurt dressing on it, mmmmmm) + desserts (mmmmm, some crazy havala thing + custard) + there own  homemade fresh soft drink (lemon, mint and ginger cooler).

I wish I could cook like that... soo healthy, you come out feeling perfect. I eat enough for lunch and dinner in one $7 sitting.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Nice people, but fuck they can seriously cook. You can't even understand vegetarian food till you taste the stuff.

When you say "joint" do you mean a temple or is it like an actual Hare Krishna restaurant. I want to try that.
