I turn colors I want to protect inside out....

Maybe I'm too stoned at the moment....but how does ^that^ protect the color of clothing?

The outside of the clothing is still being soaked just like the inside of the clothing is  ?

If I drop some clothes into a load of laundry that has some colors that are running and the dye seeps into the water a lil bit...it doesn't matter if the clothes are turned inside out or not, all the clothes are going to become dyed inside & out.

^machanical movement of the agitator can damage colors and fabric, at least by my mothers advise. It may not be true but I can see how the scrapping and movement I think can wear away the fabric. Who knows I still do it it’s easy enough lol

I'm pretty sure both the dye industry and the detergent industry solved this color run off problem. It's been a problem since the modern washing machine was invented. Surely the dyes and detergent are like oil and water nowadays. No matter how much you mix them, they will never blend together meaning that the detergent no longer dissolve the dye.

I never wash my whites separate from the colors and I never had a problem.

In time the colors will be duller and that's just normal. Your whites will also be less white, but that's what bleach is for. Maybe do a white only wash every 3 months with bleach to bring them back or something.

Why has no one else in the thread suggested this idea?

I don't seperate colors. I put all my Black, blue, red, green, white clothing in 1 load and never see any color mixing. It might happen if your clothes are heavily dyed when new, or you bleach them
