Co-Designing Style Sheet (Appearance Settings)

I've been wanting to design a style sheet that's specifically entheogen related. Can I have the basic code and a tip or two.

Heh... well the CSS support is kind of a mess. More and more lately, it's seeming inevitable that I'll have to scrap the BB and rewrite it sometime kind of soon. For now I honestly think your best bet would just be to find the stylesheet that's closest to what you want to accomplish, and edit it (the default is the canonical stylesheet, but I know others like Deluvian Blue are popular too). To test it, you can go to your display preferences, select 'Unstyled' from the stylesheet menu, then click the 'Custom style?' link and paste in your own code. If you have any questions, let me know. And if you come up with something good, send it to me for inclusion on the official list! :smile:

Oh and by the way you'll probably want to use http://www.codebeautifier.com/ or http://www.prettyprinter.de/ to make the CSS easier to work with.

Update/Question: Using Chrome I went into my display settings and I changed it to light blue. I hit preview and the right clicked on the page and got View Page Source. What would happen if I were to edit the code on this level-?

Unfortunately you can't edit the raw HTML since the board doesn't have full template support. There's just the one layout, which is styled with different stylesheets. There are a couple exceptions - the "default" and "vintage Shroomery" styles have unique headers and footers - but that's hard-coded in. So basically until the board gets a rewrite, you're stuck with the limitations of CSS. Personally I recommend you use Firefox with the Web Developer Toolbar extension, you can go to 'CSS | View Style Information' and hover over elements to quickly see which classes they belong to, or go to 'CSS | Edit CSS' and make changes to the stylesheet which are reflected in real time.
