I think someone plagiarized my music

About two years ago I made a really groundbreaking electronica album. In a sense Id say I created a new genre with it. I only showed this album to about 4 people before the only copy was lost(Im thinking it mighta been stolen). I was never quite able to replicate it's greatness in my music ever before or ever after but Ive been on hiatus from music after losing it. Fastforward to a few years later and I hear one of my songs. Well not entirely, but it sounded as if it had been sampled in the background. It wasnt a commonly occuring beat either. The only copy being lost as it is Ive no way to prove it. Im considering confronting the artist about it directly. Perhaps somone stole my master recording, sold it to half priced books and someone looking for something theyd never heard of picked it up and sampled it. Im just pissed that they made money off it and I didnt.

Yah but Im gonna get the timing wrong, and the sounds wrong. I made all my own sounds and theyve been long lost. What will result is going to be an entirely different piece. I didnt write it all down on paper.

So you are a one hit wonder then? If you are good at what you can do, then you can produce other tracks that compare or are better.

Many musicians have released similar sound music. If it was someone in the same city as you, then I would raise an eyebrow.

It WAS someone from the same city. Thats why Im pissed about it.

I think you're pipe dreaming.  You heard a new song that reminded you of 1 of yours, and all of a sudden you think they stole your idea.  VERY DOUBTFUL

Anybody know a polite way to tell somebody to get their ass over to a psychiatrist? Because this sounds like a manic episode to me. Either get on medication or stop tweaking.

you get rich by selling a good song,
that takes branding, backing and promotion

If you are serious, confront the artist, see where they samples that beat from, etc. Feel out the situation, and use your elite ninja powers to blackmail them into giving you money. Don't let them know you don't have the original, hell you still have all the samples and project files, they dont... wink wink
