Not getting stitches is that bad?

I got a pretty big gaping wound on my finger, it was bleeding a lot but stopped . The wound was gaping open. It stopped bleeding, but when I tried to use force on my hand it started bleeding again and hurt to use my hand. That was yesterday now the area is swollen and I still can't use my hand yet. Will anything bad happen from not getting stitches on it?

Maybe an infection which ultimately could lead to amputation or spreading of the infection through your body leading to amputation of all your limbs including your penis. Go see a doctor.

Yeah bro. Got cut, thought it was healing fine.. Got mad infected and swollen. Couldnt bend my finger. Had to go to the docts and they had to cut it to drain it. Havent really recovered 5 months later.  Be carful bro

I stepped on a fuckign piece of glass that went through my shoe into my foot.
like an inch deep by half an inch wide. was fucking bleeding everywhere. I didn't go to the hospital and luckily I didn't get infected or anything.
this was over a year ago and I still can barely feel the toes on my right foot I think I fucked up my nerves and stuff. definitely go to a doctor because there are a lot of things that can go wrong

I busted my knee open playing softball when I was 13 - I tried sliding into home superman style but third base man shoved me down and that's when I fucked my knee up.

Didn't get stitches but looking at it today its a disgusting big circle scar like a half dollar size.

I stuck my thumb on a guitar string once (the pointy bit on the tuning post), it came up like a fucking golf ball inside of 2 weeks. They had to operate on it and I got 15 ugly stitches, all this just for ignoring it in the first week when I could have taken antibiotics.

Depends on the length, cleanliness, depth, and location of the cut. If you are asking, it is probably not that critical that you get stitches especially given the location. You will likely have more scarring than you would otherwise, but it's just your finger so I wouldn't worry about it. Infection risk is serious. If you do develop signs/symptoms of an infection, seek medical treatment.

Also I am fairly certain you aren't supposed to ask for medical advice here.

Use neosporin and keep it clean with soap. Cover it after cleaning to prevent infection and change the wrap often.

Edit: In the past I cut the tip of my finger off and was fine without doctors help. I did have one visit for the doctor to look at it and ended up being a waste for the visit. Just don't cause too much stress on it and you'll be healed in no time.
