Long story .....SHORT
    #1287329 -

OK heres the deal (I will skip the part were I tell how STUPID I can be somtimes)

1 jar(wrong shape right size) I cant get the stuff(substrate )

So when the jar is ready (bright white all over) can I take the jar , stick it in perlite to the top (so that the perlite is all around the jar)        and let the shroomies come out the top?? I seem to remember old guides in the 80's (books not guides) showing pics of shrooms comming out of the jars(back then I didnt want to grow though)
I think it should work as long as I keep the temps right and as for the fact some might think this is a waste of time well I will be starting  a new batch soon (koh saumi(spelling)        anyway this time no fuck ups and I think the one jar is worth it
it will motivate me more
please help
thanks!
ps. I know about temps and humid etc etc
but this idea I have never heard about (and really its not like I am breaking new ground just trying to not "lose it all")

Wrap the jar in tin foil now so it pins at the top only and dont worrie about
burrying it to deep into the perlite as i dont think its needed and it should fruit fine from the top.I think its called a neglect tec or somthing or maybe chroincs tec i forgot which but ive seen it done ok.
Good luck

Something like this?

100 g rye, 105 g water, in a jar with polyfill filter, inoculated with an isolate and left alone(=forgot about it) for 1 month.

anyway its not even ready to pin yet but when it is
you say (wrap in tinfoil all but the top) that makes sense , but will I still use up the cake , if you know what I mean ...........like will the stuff at the bottom even become shrooms at the top?

and I will put it in half way ratther than all the way
I want it to get enough mositture!!
I cant wait to try again at first I was pissed off
now I have seen everything I did wrong
it will be better next time (which will be soon)

Yep it should use all the food even the stuff at the bottom as i think all mycelium from the same speices join together and move the nutrients to were there needed.Which should be the top were the light promotes pinning. After the first flush it could be a good idear to add some more sterile water for the next flush.

COOL thanks for your help
want a gift?????????

I am a simple man (when it comes to growing)
and I am using BRF

but ya, I am not as worried about it now , I could just take it out with a spoon , but I like the idea of leaving it in the jar with perlite around it better
post the pic though(they can be a 1000 words!)

thank you all for giving me the answer to what might be to some of you , a VERY simple question that "really" you dont have to waste your time with(you already can grow) but you used some of your time to help me !
thanks

oh and if !!!!Ganja !!!! wants some real cool spores this season (I am more of a picker , not a grower) let me know with a PM and this fall I will send you a print of p.scriptipes(like cyans)
in fact one the west coast the three best shrooms(in terms of how strong they are)

are  p.beaocytis p. cyan and p.scirptipes  I have found all of those except cyan so this fall I am gonna grow it outdoors.........I know thats sad that I can find it
scirptipes is said to be rare
AND i LOVE THEM
they are SOOOOOOO strong!!!!
send me a PM ganja (I got somthing 2 kinds of spores you might want come fall .....cant beat the price.......free!!!!!

Yea, the jars I bought looked like they would work good, but it turns out that this isn't really the case. When I tried to birth my first jar, I found out the hard way that even though they look straight along the outsite, the inside is slightly more bulbous at the bottom than the top. So, it took me about an hour to knock it out of the jar, and it the process, it broke in half :P

This has happened with most of my jars that I've birthed, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. The pins that got bruised during the process, as well as the bruised mycelium, seems to be healing, in a way (greeny-blue patches disappearing), and I've got a whole bunch of little inch-long mush critters (i think my best cake has about 30 of these suckers on it). Strange, though, I've noticed that the bottom halves of the cakes (from when the cakes broke in half) seem to be doing far better than the top halves.

Of course, I would rather not repeat this experience. There was a place online that was selling autoclavable 500mL plastic jars for cultivating mush, I think I might pick some of these up for my next run (they have smaller bottoms than tops, seems to me that it would be perfect for colonization).
