Great post

"you have to be able to operate with no closure.
you have to be able to operate with unsatisfactoriness.
your trips will remind you that there is no closure and that unsatisfactoriness is part of totality.
to trip well you have to be able to work with this - to use this as a connection to the universe.

everything else is coddling - an attempted return to innocence, to a time when you did not know this - like searching for the fountain of youth, the goose that lays the golden egg etc.

you need to cultivate integrity without closure and the ability to deal with restlessness by relaxing on an ongoing basis."

something wonderfully ambiguous takes over, yet it is not a thing.

RGV has no need of more good ratings but let me add another one anyway.

In my opinion the best psychologist of the shroomery; always gets down to the core of the issue.
I found this old post and I really liked it - gave a perspective on my thread I hadn't thought of, and I don't think I truly appreciated the opinion at the time, but looking back I do now.

a single magical pass does not compete with the years of revisiting trauma.

no single method in the world works against a lifetime of habitual aching. it is a lot of work, for both the therapist and patient.

the key aspect of mental formations both healthy and unhealthy is habit, as impressions are revisited they become stronger.
what are you going to do about that?

that is the whole of the law, not aleister crowley.
habit comprehension and habit modulation.
get that and you master all real magic.

Salvia knowledge
08/13/13 09:39 PM

I love your posts on salvia man, you truly understand the divine plant unlike most others. Specifically this post you really helped confirm how I felt when smoking weed after salvia. How everything takes you to the other side, its all the same every substance. That's how I interpreted it at least.
"with weed you reach the other side, but are carried along gently with enriched sensations.
with lsd you are introduced to the wide open spaces on the other side -coming away with integration or loss - depending
with salvia you are strenuously jerked to the other side and then suddenly removed back to ordinariness that is possibly forever suspicious.

the other side is close, salvia makes that patently clear.
after salvia or lsd, weed may not seem so gentle to you, because you recognize that it is the same other side, other place, place of many places...

the memories kick in, and so having been there so widely (from lsd) or so suddenly (from salvia) the gentle weed excursions associate with memories of those other excursions.

note: emotions and dreams go to the same otherside - so some people at the first taste of weed may  suffer intense recollections of emotional trips or dreamscapes. "

you probably mean this one
in which I cite the 3 negative roots, hatred, greed, and delusion.
Normally I qualify them as sub-classed from one negative root: delusion, aka - error!

the solution is beginner's mind: refocus, begin again, when in error, or distraction.

you can un-memorize (and stop repeating) a ton of irrelevant crap and just keep it simple

Quote:

not very analytical are you folks -
a bad trip?
what happenned? did something inside come up?
if so you need to look at it.
going again is your own path, someone else can't tell you where to turn.
your bad trip is a reflection of something in your life, not an isolated shroom event, you need to look into this and heal.
going into a visionary state can be part of healing, in fact, there may be no other valid reason for taking shrooms. how much you take and how often relates to how you manage your healing/vision questing/or perspective shifting.
i don't reccommend competitive dosing or consumerist expectations.

I think a lot of dumb people do look at psychedelics in the same way that they look at cases of beer.

yay - consume mass quantities.

I recommend regularly using the search engine and typing redgreenvines in the posted by field.
It is also fun to read his posts.

He is very precise, very concise and efficient, consistently correct and very very wise.

It may take practice to understand some of what he says and it helps sticking to it.

Proven wrong he will disregard what you’ve said and then insult you. He doesn’t understand different positions, and he derides them at every opportunity.

He would rather throw out insults and made up names, then address what is being discussed.
Such close minded thinking shouldn’t exist on a forum like this where you can take drugs to expand your mind. Truly disappointing.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/28594596#28594596

Evidence

I really tried to like you. But the way you throw around insults like some petty bully in a high school. Makes you completely unlikable to me. You’ve earned this.

redgreenvines responded on 11/09/23 11:47 PM:

Ignoring me restricts your feed to artificially sweetened dreams, nREM is not a form of conscious experiencing dream or otherwise - it is a kind of recouperative flat line for the mind.

redgreenvines responded on 03/07/14 04:45 AM:

My use of language is relative to the idea at hand, I do follow most rules, but erase the unnecessary edges to make ideas connect better.
I think most dictionary definitions give words flimsiness, the consensus may be satisfactory but the words end up like Gulliver tied up in Lilliput.
that is to say dictionaries are very good for adding to your vocabulary but not that good for getting to the meat of the problem in a discussion.

so it turned into argument, "show me now"-ism, in a cloak of debunkery, and a heaping helping of clownish bully behavior.

that's what you have now, old men pretending to be virtual vikings stomping around drunkenly over any kind of idea which is different, and a few acolytes that are probably quite painful in real life cheering them on.

I try to be supportive, but it gets sore.

A hypocritical fake
01/07/15 04:43 AM

redgreenvines likes to play the guru and most people around here buy it, but he's actually extremely conceited and does not discuss in good faith. He's an interesting addition to the ecosystem here for his science-informed horoscope-style posts, but a very poor discussion partner who becomes nasty and resentful when questioned.

Visuals
10/27/09 11:23 AM

For your clarification on Visuals.

"Four main classes of visuals occur, all due to signals fading more slowly:

1. radial rainbow patterns or feathers
2. layered which includes trails
3. polyopia which includes wallpaper patterns
4. semi-independent animation/halucination

1. the rainbow patterns are visual cortex interference patterns due to slower fading of visual input, such that points of light radiating waves on the cortex interfere with points from succeeding visual moments. This produces gorgeous candy images from streetlights at night, but it is a bit subtle for daylight.

2. Layered celluloid images are complete images that persist longer and layer over succeding frames of visual input which include:
a) being able to still see behind yourself after turning around (360 degree vision)
b) seeing trails following a moving object.
c) seeing through an image into an underlying image that was before you a moment ago...
d) seeing a memory tableau superimposed on the visual field.

3. Polyopia is seeing multiples of images like feathers or stars or any motif, this also includes seeing miniature motifs that are in some way related to set and setting. It is characterized by multiple distinct elements fitting together in a fantastic but natural way, not normally possible in 3-d cartesian space.
Polyopia is strongly suggestive of an holographic process (known to be true) being involved in ongoing mentation. I often see neon graffiti or writing that cannot be read, it changes so quickly, or cartoon characters...

4. Semi-independent halucination is most common with delerients but it does occur with psychedelics and it also is due to layering or persistence, but it is a longer chain of persistence that permits it, such as when parts of the self break off and seem to have ongoing ideas of their own that are seemingly at odds with the tripper. This is the part that makes superstitious people go insane, or religious people declaim visits by angels and deamons..."

I like the aesthetic/poetic quality of your answers--they're haiku-like, but with a solid logical / down to earth quality as well.

I also like that you look at many problems from the perspective of human consciousness--the 'felt moment of present experience.' That's who we are and what this is, after all!

no - it's fake science, (endogenous DMT - particularly in the brain)

it is an unproven scientific hypothesis, with an elaborate and false spiritual-scientific theory, but totally without relevant experimental support - extreme sub threshold concentrations of DMT like substances are found in the gut only sometimes.

all corroborative publications are review articles quoting each other and thereby making a fuss about eachother's echoes while appearing to be a true movement among scientific experimenters - except for the gut content findings. Truly clever people are duped in this way.

more than half of publishing scientists today are publishing misleading documentation (especially when the funding for their work is pharmaceutical) - doctors cannot even begin to debunk the misleading information from drug companies.

many of the non-corporate scientists, benefitting financially from false science, have wild spiritual notions that they are trying to prove, and science is just a mask for their efforts - that would include Strassman.

the crackpots and corporate lackeys make science almost as corrupt as the catholic church, bending laws and social norms for money and greed and distorting the fabrics of "truth".

I don't always agree with you (like when you told me I couldn't bench press a car), but I appreciate you as a poster. Glad you're on here contributing. Have a great New Year, rgv.

Very negative and nasty person.
05/24/21 10:55 AM

Didn't like me stating my opinion, attacked me, butted into my replies to other people, then left me a bad review.
He got especially angry after I said "I don't think you understand the meaning of the word 'Conspiracy' or you work for some alphabet agency that uses it to discredit sensible people." Therefore, (though this is not a trade rating) I would personally not trade with him because I don't think he's trustworthy, and I think people who do intend to trade with him should be couscous and try to avoid giving him personal information (such as your real name or address)

This is also my first negative rating, and I didn't want to have to do it, but I had a nagging feeling this guy gave me a bad review, and sure enough he did.
I didn't think he'd go so far as to give me a negative review, but not even being anywhere around my computer, I had a feeling that he did.. I was only speaking my opinion civilly, I did not call him "garbage" (as he did to me) or anything like that, and I had a lot of logic and examples behind what I was saying, he provided no examples of what he was trying to pretend is the norm (Government caring about it's people) instead he attacked me personally and left a bad review. Saying bad things the Government has done is not "conspiracy," and calling it that reminds me or another great Orwell quote

“And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed—if all records told the same tale—then the lie passed into history and became truth. 'Who controls the past' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.”

you know who you are, you don't need me to explain it to others, however, I have not given a ZERO rating to anyone else, so it is significant.

I am opposed to ignorant antivax messages, and yours is exactly that, with the special twist related to Agent Orange and the government conspiracy, etc.
hello and goodbye.

RedGreenVines is like a rare precious gem

Anywho, From one psychonaut to another...I love you brother.
Thank you for you and for everything over many years here that you've been part of; so many discussions and contributions of excellent quality.  You are the only other human being whom I'm aware of that I've ever interacted with who's creative way of expression speaks to me in an honest way that reflects mind as is.
True tripper, knowledge seeker, and lover of wisdom
&
Kindred soul.

You're a beautifully uniquely creative intelligent and compassionate  wonder-loving, no-nonsense kind of a guy. It means more to me than I can ever express with mere words that Earth has people like you living on it.  Much, much, Gratitude.

Not posing as greater than others, or lesser than, not beneath, nor above, not equal, but neither unequal to anyone else ~ but similar yet different enough all the same. Side by Side.  Just you.  Only true.

How I wish we could've tripped together at least once.
I'll be taking a hiatus from interneting for a while, going backk to basics, and if all goes relatively well- afterwards I hope to rejoin the shroomery family. When I can finally see my own head's cleared up well enough.... but until then, for now, in case I don't get to say a more formal adios, maybe this will just have to do.  Never forget that which is most truly important.

3/20/12: I looked for this, having completely forgotten its contents, and laughed when I found it: it reads as blandly and colorlessly as an official intelligence dossier. Though I stand by it, I feel the need to update it to express the wonder and joy evoked by reading your words. You have the rare quality of speaking with authority yet sans condescension, pushing gently but firmly through thought-bending expression towards ever-artful reenvisionings of reality. It's inspiriting and awakening.
