I was just pissed off.  You are obviously intelligent, and that one post just hit a nerve with me.

It all good, your judgement was impaired.  If you were sane you would have realized long ago I am a bad person.

I'm surprised I have not yet rated you after all these years -- you are certainly one of my favorite posters on the Shroomery.

Have a great birthday!

I'm not always particularly fond of your political ideations, but I always love reading your contributions to the physics threads.  Always interesting, well thought out, and knowledgeable.

Edit:

Just wanted to once again point out how much I love your posts.  You always have a way of putting things so concisely, and I am green with envy.  If only people had the reading comprehension to get some use out of it.  It's so frustrating to read your posts, and then immediately after see someone continue to argue because the thoughts went right over their head.  Considering how frustrating it is to me, I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to you.  I don't know how you do it.  But it blows my mind how anything you say could even go over someone's head, as it's always so crystal clear, but time after time it happens.

Just... My hat's off to you.

Standardized tests are great.  They are the only way possible to gather the necessary information on teaching methods and results.  Without them we are lost as educators.  But without them we also get a great conflict of interest - we get to design our own tests to judge the efficacy of our own teaching!  Ha!  And that is the essential reason of why they are rejected by educators.  Because they remove conflicts of interest and hold educators and pupils accountable.

A bright spot in a darkening community of pushovers and uncritical thinkers. I appreciate any and all challenges you can put my way. You're one the folks I'm glad is in the sciences. Unfortunately in my time going through the sciences I found your type few and far between. Not solely because of the students lack of drive, but also because of the teacher's desire not to be questioned. Several times I would ask a question and be shunned by the professor before other students came to my defense. I ran into a stiffness within the system that I didn't anticipate going into it. Perhaps if I had followed it farther I would have escaped some of that. Perhaps a different university. Although I am uncertain you can set up a system with rules and regulations that depends upon a steady flow of money and not run into stiffness. All the best to you on your journey's through life. I'm glad you've found a way to make it work for you and retain some flexibility and acknowledgment of uncertainty. Please don't lose that
