"Today was the turning point. I'm walking toward the tree where it lives, trying to spot it before I get there. Its either gone, or very well hidden. With no sign of the bird, I keep walking, but still have my backpack ready. I get past the tree with no incident, but something still doesn't feel right. Sure enough, when I'm about 20 feet past its tree I hear its distinctive attacking chirp. I turn around as fast as I can, and its already nearly at me. I swing up with my backpack as I turn around but I trip backwards over a big crack in the sidewalk. I get up to finish fighting the thing off, once it retreats I continue home. One of my wrists is sprained pretty bad from landing on it, scraped up my hand, and scraped up one of my elbows pretty bad. What pisses me off is that the bird is no longer defending its tree, its being outright aggressive when I've already gone past its tree, by hiding from me and attacking from behind even after I'm no longer a threat to its tree." |
