right, and you do? your deification of healthcare workers is an obvious reflection of resentment based on personal experiences of feeling judged when you were at a low point in your life. It's understandable, but totally unrealistic. we're all humans. healthcare workers fuck, shit, drink, and cuss. The major difference is we try to repent for our less than optimal human qualities by choosing a career that serves members of the public in their time of greatest need and desperation. I've been hospitalized in psych wards 5 times, including once in the same hospital I currently work at. I was hospitalized because I was acting crazy. I've been diagnosed with a handful of psychiatric disorders, only one of which was legitimate. I don't always act crazy. But I used to do so quite frequently. That doesn't make me a crazy person.
If you saw the way I interact with sick, suffering, and dying- and yes, crazy- patients, you would feel like a complete jackass. I treat everyone with more patience and compassion than 99.9% of people would offer them outside of the healthcare environment. Even when they are threatening to kill me and my coworkers. Because I know they aren't bad people- they're sick people- AKA crazy.
