The way I view it is that the universe is one single indivisible effortlessly flowing and perfect whole and viewed in this way I call it god. We imagine borders and divide things into causes and effects and subjects and objects and this and that to give the illusion of division but it's not really there at all, just a big flowing chain. Any part can call itself god and it'd be absolutely right, it's a 'part' (remember imagined part) of god just as much as any other part is. Saying you're god doesn't mean full on you're saying you're omniscient and all powerful and this and that, you're just as unimportant and important as every other part. Suffering is necessary at all times somewhere, everything is finite and bound to run out and in turn there's only so much of anything for any one part. IMO if someone truly knew or believed they were god they wouldn't worry too much about ending all the bad things in their life, that's childish to want and impossible anyway, it only amounts to asking for nonexistence. Besides it'd be like tearing down a building because some piece of stone in the foundation complained about its burden.

Nother thing though is how do you know what other folks mean when they say that? The words you use just make this out to seem like some person wants to build themselves up by imagining up stupid concepts and painting them over how they believe others view reality regardless of the fact. No simple 'i dont get it what makes you think you're god? thanks' or anything like that. If you don't get something it's best to just say so politely and ask for clarification, no need to be a child.
