Cubes will colonize wood, I remember seeing a picture of it recently. Everyone is right that compost probably isn't the best option. But then again I really don't think it will hurt, there are nutrients in the compost and adding it to what you have to bulk it up isn't going to ruin your grow. As long as you sterilize or pasteurize correctly and don't go with such a large ratio it should be fine. Most people will say stick to the TEK stick to the TEK, but obviously the TEKS that have came up over time are from people who did the exact opposite. I'm always down for trying new things, and if compost is what you have readily available why not throw a little bit in and see how it works? Then you can use more and more until you find what works best. Don't just do something because other people don't do it themselves. People are finding new additives to add to there sub every day. So if you want the tried and true recipes go with what was stated above, If you want to try compost try compost, just go little by little. Also I always stay at 1:3 or 1:2, I would rather colonize multiple tubs that are smaller and have quicker growth and fruiting times and less chance of contams then 1 giant ass one. Just my 2 cents
