Giving is something I do when I can but isn't really a planned event. If I find myself in the position to help someone, then I try to do just that.
I think that many times we are put in situations to meet some need and other times we are put in situations where someone/thing can meet ours.
It may sound rather hippiesque but it seems to be true in my life.
I also believe that if you are doing it in the correct fashion, that you just can't out give what you will get in return.
That's not to say, "Go feed the crack heads dollar bills." but more like "Be sensitive to what the/your spirit tells you and be aware of the opportunity to be used for good."

Dood I thought I was the only one, I was fuckin 8 years old and dentist knocked me out with the nitrous and i went out of body. I really never thought there might be millions of us out that all turned onto a life chasing the eternal high by our dentists hahahahaha can't get the smile off my face here man i really thought it was just me. As far as me making a good dad some day goes... Well, only time will tell. Hopefully won't be finding that one out for another 5-7 years, lol.
