I think I remember you saying you were a history major.  It shows in the fact that you have a historical perspective that is sorely lacking among many of our prominent Shroomerites, leading you to actually be on the right side of history where so many others are not.

Sadly, few people really understand this. Glad to see you do.

"The crisis is already here, and it will force some sort of change. The Global Footprint Network has already stated in 1986 that we are currently consuming the earth's resources faster than they regenerate. We will be 9 billions in 1950, with rising problems in terms of water, food and urban life.

The heart of the problem lies in consumerism. It is widely believed (and I believe that too) that a strong nation needs a strong economy to compete internationally, and that a factor of strenght is an unhealthy dose of internal consumption to further stimulate the market, and thus the industry and services. But this implies that everyone is running to their doom. We need to make a shift towards a reasonable management of our consumption and production, but who will dare? Someone needs to give up his spot in the global race. The rest will follow.

As for animal rights, I'm not too optimistic. We haven't been able to impose an international ban on polar bear hunting, or to enforce the protection of elephants. In fact, wildlife will quickly degrade, as our environment does too. "

+5 for finding the Baldur's Gate series as enthralling as I do.  If you haven't played in a while I suggest you download it and install the BGT mod.  It merges all games and expansions into one adventure, allowing you to play BGI on the BGII engine, and supports higher resolutions as well.  PM me if you're interested and/or need help installing it.

If you disagree with something I said
10/12/09 02:21 PM

You could post a retort.

Besides, everything I said was factual.  If they want to change, they need to invest in infrastructure, schools, hospitals, etc.

And Africa did run better when it was still managed by whites.  Remember Zimbabwe?  It was once referred to as the "breadbasket of Africa".  Then Robert Mugabe came to power, kicked all the white farmers out (and killed the ones that stayed to protect their land) and he brought ruin to the country.  He put the land in the hands of morons, and they all failed.  Now, Zimbabwe survives on foreign aid because they can't even figure out how to run farms.

South Africa was a relatively safe place during Apartheid- now, its the car theft capitol of the world, and referred to as the "rape capitol of the world".

If you can't handle the facts, go suck off someone who's more politically correct and they'll spoon feed you racially sensitive things your brain can handle.
