One of the most verbose speakers I've ever come across. I was being fecicious. the point was you are pretty clear and concise, and I drag on. Sorry to give you that impression. Where have you been verbose before?

zannennagara responded on 06/27/12 09:37 PM:

It makes me pretty happy that "verbose" has been recaptured as a positive adjective. It really does actually feel that way sometimes! Don't discount your own verbosity; after all, you praised my concise appreciation of it.

Affirming pride is obviously meaningful in the sense of combating feelings of shame that are generally fostered by the broader community. If brunettes or green-eyed people had a long history of being beaten and killed for those characteristics, were regularly ridiculed or despised by large swaths of the populace, and had to dye their hair or wear tinted contact lenses just to be able to feel comfortable and accepted, then you would probably see groups of these people supporting each other and affirming pride in traits that are nonsensically hated by others.

Comic book conventions and rock concerts are essentially expressions of pride, but seldom do I hear people who don't read comics or don't listen to rock - hobbies confined much of the time to the bedroom - complain about these fans shoving their preferences down everyone's throats. Are we still not supposed to talk about sexuality because it makes some people uncomfortable?

zannennagara responded on 06/16/12 06:36 PM:

More verbosely, maybe, but you get the drift too. Thanks.

I watched Melancholia and it's the best film I've seen in a year or two. Truly magnificent art I think.:bow2:

I actually searched for Von Trier on shroomery and saw your great analysis of AntiChrist another interesting Von Trier movie.
Thanks for inspiring me to watch Melancholia! :aweyeah:

Now I'm going to watch Belle de Jour by Bunuel. Another great movie although in a way different league

zannennagara responded on 05/28/12 02:55 AM:

Thank you, glad to see appreciation for good film. Von Trier and Bunuel are both brilliant in their own ways. Make sure you check out Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie too, it will give you much "plaisir."

inconsequential ratings and attempted witty in jokes below
03/24/12 05:01 PM

the real in joke, i think, was the self reflexive turn in your rating for me, which was actually an in joke with yourself...

yay someone as much, if not more self reflexive than i am :birthday:

furthermore i like your posts thus far and your 3 year old journal and stuff... couldnt come up with anything witty

zannennagara responded on 05/28/12 03:01 AM:

Thank you, now we have a joint reflex, the one that kicks at the stuffed-shirt doctor hitting us with his little rubber triangle weapon.

Understanding objectivity in applying standards to beliefs & actions, regardless of which foot the shoe is on, independent of national identity, is also something to reward.

I'm an idiot for not rating you
01/17/09 07:50 PM

before now.  My bad.

Seriously though, I think you are a top notch contributor for a number of reasons.  But the one that impresses me the most is your superiority to me.  You're articulate and thoughtful without attitude or hate.  I loved how I had to stay on my toes to keep up with you.

Just GREAT!  We're so so so lucky to have you.

With gentlest affection,
MM

I like your post in S&P in 'the debate thread.'  It's a little bit more verbose than I like for philosophy discussions but you seem thoughtful.
