Such is life, and as much as things change they stay the same.
This is a very large community, and you were perhaps the brightest light it's best had to offer.
You educated many, were generous, and were a good and respectable man.
Many thanks for the edible cultures and prints you sent me. In turn, I have taught many more, not just a skill, but a desire for insight and the ways to achieve it.
Cheers

Anno: eight to ten years ago, when I was just beginning to learn about mycology, you are the person that I remember the most as a patient, thorough, and kind (when treated kindly of course) mentor. Your posts piqued my interest in a number of things I otherwise would never have bothered with (like learning [well, more like perfecting] my ability to work with agar, and learning how to obtain proper isolates, and so on.) I spent most of my time back then in the Advanced Mycology board; it was slightly different back then, but still was chock-full of fascinating information - and a great deal of it was put there by you.
So again, thank you for all you did for me (probably without even knowing it!) If it hadn't been for all the great stuff I learned from you, I would hardly consider myself a "mycologist" these days; almost anybody can cultivate various species of fungi that have "strains" which are highly domesticated, but the same is not true when it comes to understanding fungal biochemistry, physiology, and reproduction - to mention only a few of the things that you helped me learn about which then allowed me to pass on that knowledge.
Sorry to sound like a suck-up. I simply respect you a great deal, and wanted to let you know why.
5 s isn't much, but it's all I really have to offer (except maybe an Ecuador print if you need one). Take care!
