Even though we have a lot of disagreements, I think you are a really nice guy and pretty darn intelligent to boot. (I still think meth is awesome and that I presented a better argument when we debated the neurotoxicity of reasonable doses though )

An open minded thinker with the courage to talk about sprituality in the face of many a naysayer.

According to Buddhism, the benefits of giving accrue primarily to the giver, karmically speaking. In other words, it does not matter what the person does with the money, its an opportunity to be generous and compassionate. I am grateful to beggers for giving me an opportunity to do something good. I honestly could not care less what they spend the money on or even if they really need it. I gave a twenty dollar bill to a homeless man recently, and I am not wealthy. I am fairly sure at least some of it went to booze.
More to the point, I would rather give money to someone who does not really need it and spends it on booze, then deny money to someone who desperately needs it and would have spent it on food, because I am too cynical to trust him and assume he is a scam artist. Just imagine how you would feel if, just IF, for some reason you were in a desperate situation, an all you needed was something to eat, and person after person walked by you without giving you anything because they WRONGLY assumed you were just a drug addict.

its a bit like the death penalty. It is better to pardon a man who deserves to die than condemn an innocent man to death, if that makes sense. In other words, compassion demands that we give the benefit of the doubt.

this reminded me!

love having this guy in the WCA crew

he has got one hell of a head on his shoulders, intelligent as they come and seems to have a firm grasp on the direction he wants his life to take, even if that means sacrificing personal pleasures.

plus I like his name he deserves five shrooms just for that. don't worry dude, they are dry and weigh a full eighth:mushroom2::mushroom2::mushroom2::mushroom2::mushroom2:
