Well Deserved

I know this is a bit late, but I was just looking through an old thread and your description of the answer to my question both made an outstanding amount of sense and was easy to understand.  Your ability to think of and accurately describe abstract concepts is a true gift.

What more can I say, I doff my cap to you, sir (or Madam, I can't tell, but the same applies either way.)

I'm impressed.  Happy New Year!

i really enjoy this quote from you:
06/04/13 04:25 PM

Quote:

Considering the magnitude of the impact psychedelics can have on a person's ego-structure, it's not surprising that so many people in the psychedelic community have distorted egos.  Further, considering that the soft-hearted and most other-centred (as opposed to self-centred) personality types are more likely to be insecure, self-conscious, or self-critical, and are thereby more likely to have difficult experiences with psychedelics, it makes sense that such individuals would consume psychedelics less often, and be more likely to cease their use much earlier.  With their exit from the community, a higher population of egotists necessarily remains.

It would seem, then, that the psychedelic experience seems to naturally select the most egotistical among us.  If this analysis bears correspondence with reality, then it is quite an ironic twirl.

see thread for my response, but i like what you have to say on this topic.

There's no doubt that individualism is incompatible with collectivism.  Since our entire socioeconomic system is based upon individualism and self-interest, no structural mechanism to provide for the whole can possible materialize within it.  That is why 2% of the world owns 50% of its wealth.  Our socioeconomic system is structured to favour that outcome.  Indeed, capitalism no other outcome but the centralization of wealth and power around the most vicious, calculating, sociopathic maniacs among us.
