Re: Re: Fixing contam

Thanks for your input .
The only reason I did the holes in the side and then cold shock the better of the two jars. Is because I had just read somebody post that had done the same thing and he said that the holes absorbed more warter and he had measured how much he put in and how much was left after.cold shock it .then said that the one was producing way faster and much bigger flushes..
I have some coir on it's way I basically used the perlite to keep it up off the shelf bottom
I also did a couple experiments 1st. I noticed a lot of white cycobin on the sides of the jar I just emptied so I refilled it with new food and verm on top ..
2nd. After cutting the one CV up almost in half and it was not a direct one slice it was more following the CV contam line
And getting it out of the glove box..there was a few marble size white cycobin I took and put in a long flat plastic air tight container with verm on the bottom food on top then ver
m again just to see ..I also have slightly deviated from brf by going to this Chinese 5 store nearby and buying select brown rice
Black rice and oatmeal rice and put it in blender to a flour state leaving only a few whole or half grains also using mostly brown rice  my pressure cooker is also supposed to show up today . And then I'll add the verm and sterilized a few more jars ..
My next thought is ..
While I'm waiting for second and 3rd flushes Is to get the sterile juices from boiling the 3 different rices and using it to add more food to the cakes
Of all the reading iv done it seams the reason the flushes get smaller is because they are consuming the nutrients so why not add nutrients during the process
One more experiment I did a few petri dishes just like they were 1/2 pint jars and so far one is full I'm planning on also putting it into a longer flatter container with fresh food and verm on top .

No problem. You are correct about subsequent flushes getting smaller because they are running out of nutes, but nutes can only be added at first while everything is sterile. Any nutes added later will be eaten by other organisms before the mushies can colinize them :mushroom2:
