Funny, creative, warm and welcoming. Thanks for being here

The pleasure is all mine/ours.
Tbh- I've always felt we were cut from the same cloth, mostly.
Frankly, sometimes it almost makes me sick with how much and how often and how deeply I find myself agreeing with many of the points of view you've expressed with respect to a wide variety of matters.
That, and of how reasonable, sane, and level headed you are most of the time. Those things all matter a great deal to me.  It's a blessing just having you here now with the rest of us.

And so... from the bottomless bottom of my fully empty heart,
Thank you!

Radiant light shines bright,
Warming hearts with golden hues,
Nature's gift of love,
Basking in the glow we find,
Peaceful moments, pure delight.

A bright spot in a darkening community of pushovers and uncritical thinkers. I appreciate any and all challenges you can put my way. You're one the folks I'm glad is in the sciences. Unfortunately in my time going through the sciences I found your type few and far between. Not solely because of the students lack of drive, but also because of the teacher's desire not to be questioned. Several times I would ask a question and be shunned by the professor before other students came to my defense. I ran into a stiffness within the system that I didn't anticipate going into it. Perhaps if I had followed it farther I would have escaped some of that. Perhaps a different university. Although I am uncertain you can set up a system with rules and regulations that depends upon a steady flow of money and not run into stiffness. All the best to you on your journey's through life. I'm glad you've found a way to make it work for you and retain some flexibility and acknowledgment of uncertainty. Please don't lose that

You post a LOT in S&M that I don't agree with and that's precisely why I value your input. Someone who can go against the grain is incredibly valuable in a community. Thanks, friend.

You should stop by the philosophy, sociology, and psychology forum some time. I think you'd fit in

To me it is insanity to justify an elite that has most of the world's wealth whilst half of the world lives in poverty with millions starving, and there is the ecocide which is as if even MORE serious because once the Web of Life is destroyed, ALL of us are also, including the ones at the "top".
Well, yeah, humanity COULD be better about that sorta thing, but it never has been...dudes with penis gourds kill dudes with lip plugs while feeling superior to the tatooed dudes and take all the best fishing spots. All love their children and tell great stories.
Insanity would be a penis gourd dude thinking that he could overcome all of that, or even worse that he could make others overcome all of that with the power of his love, or even reason and logic.

Middle Path

Balance, symmetry, etc. are all found to be things that are desirable right?

Its probably just entropy. I bet is uses less energy and/or conserves more energy to follow the middle path than it does to stray to the extremes. Even if you move to the extremes your body will compensate by moving your behavior to the opposite end of the spectrum to even things out.

Imagine drinking all night and staying up till 2 am and drinking enough to blackout and vomit everywhere. You're going to lie in bed for like 10-12 hours probably before you get up and move around and when you do get up you'll rehydrate etc instead of continuing your extreme behavior. At least that is what the most healthy body should do.
