I recently started growing some sclerotia producers, Tampanensis and Mexicana. The rye berries recipe I used for this called for replacing half the grain soak water with strong coffee. I was wary to do this however, as I'd recently quit coffee and I didn't know if some of that caffeine might end up in the stones. I understand that the amount of caffeine would be negligible to none in the fruits. But sclerotia are hardened mycelium found directly in the spawn. So is there a chance a sclerotia might absorb some of the caffeine? If I used something besides coffee like chamomile tea, could it be possible for the sclerotia to absorb some of the calming properties from that instead?
