Interacting with others on MUSHROOMS
      12/28/14 07:34 PM

Has anyone ever had overwhelming feelings while tripping with others or have found that other people seem to make things worse?

Set and setting is generally the rule of thumb when it comes to tripping on any kind of psychedelic. For me setting is of utmost importance. When I am in a public space with sober people it can lead into a scary head-space. To calm myself I will meditate and rid of all distractions. I find that company is okay but solitude is bliss and when others try to uplift/nourish me it irritates and distracts me from ridding of the scary headspace, which oftentimes worsens these feelings.

Now when you are in this head-space of abnormal/irrational thinking is it difficult to control your thoughts?

For those who have had this experience while tripping with one or more people, did you find that some people make things worse by pressing you for information, invading your personal space, nourishing you in an abrasive, rape-like style, talking about disturbing things, being exceptionally loud/excited, i.e annoying, taking everything you say personally, or saying or doing otherwise unsettling things?

Also, with three or more people it seems as if expectations are a serious problem that can cause unsettling feelings. Usually, it involves conflicting views or ideas on what music to play, whether to sit down and relax or run around, whether to blather about philosophy, to giggle about nonsense, or to simply be silent. A group of trippers generally can not split ways and go about doing something on their own, whether they be far away or just a few feet apart. There is always the feeling of miscommunication, which more often than not leads to inhibition, paranoia and anxiety.

When I want to liberate myself from my ego and let go of inhibition I do it through meditation and letting all of my thoughts flow and take me where they want to go. However, because of these expectations/distractions I can not do this. And even if I walk 10 or 20 feet away the other person/persons will hunt you down and claim you've been gone for hours when it's only been 2 minutes.
Although, generally we all will have difficulty quantifying time.

I also would like to know if others have felt this idiosyncrasy when tripping on mushrooms. I wouldn’t call it a bad trip, just this odd, lonely like feeling where everything around you is gone and separated and only what you can focus on is perceived as reality. It is like you are in a cave. I only experienced this for a few minutes but at times it felt like reality ceased to exist. It was not a pleasant experience but after these feeling I felt liberated.
