This image was posted on Instagram purportedly by a well known and published wildlife photographer on assignment for Nat. Geo... It looks suspiciously to me like chanterelles growing up a tree.. something that simply doesn't happen. I suppose they might possibly be Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca, but I've never really seen them growing like this either... they grown on wood, but not up trees like this, so far as I've ever observed.. and the mushrooms in the image really look like chanterelles..
