Man, I wish I had taken a pic before I trimmed the plants up, but here’s the 40b yesterday

It was totally packed with plats on the surface with a nice open swimming area in about the right third side and left bottom. I took the lid off and it looks really nice from above. I think the plant you were asking about is elodea, the invasive one. I got it from a local lake, banned for sale in Oregon. It grows very fast. I think with all the fish I have in there the shrimp are pretty much stabilized. There’s a lot nooks and crannies in there and the babies all hide in the filter.  the white clouds and the betta eat a lot. I don’t know how many fish are in there, definitely overstocked by the books, but they look healthy and happy.

The AC tank is going great. The cichlids are Julidochromis marksmithii, they are really pretty, very shy and have very small mouths. I do see fry in the open and on the glass, im sure the fish eat some of them but the adults seem really comfortable around them.

Our water out of the tap is over 9ph right out of the tap and will drop around 8.2 after setting out. We are on a well, with only an arsenic filter, there is almost no calcium in the water, and pretty low kh. I add gypsum to increase the calcium and have noticed a lot healthier plants and fish. I add gypsum, epsom salt and a little baking soda to the AC tank, and no wood or leaves or any organic slime that, just rocks and aragonite sand. Not sure if it’s the high ph and minerals but the shrimp are a lot brighter in the ac tank.
