If your question is
then you've come to the right place. There are three main reasons for this in the majority of cases. #1. Weak mushrooms It doesn't matter if you grew the shrooms yourself or bought them, or even if you or someone else tripped hard from the same mushrooms last week or last month. Mushrooms from multispore grows are notoriously inconsistent in potency between flushes and even individual mushrooms. Lab tests have recorded potency difference of >10 times between individual mushrooms that grew together, while whole flushes can also be barely active or extremely potent. Crushing all your mushrooms and mixing them together can even out the potency in a batch but can also lead to storage difficulties. Poor or lengthy storage can also weaken mushrooms. The three primary things that destroy active alkaloids in mushrooms are light, heat and oxygen. Although it's common practice to use heat and airflow to dry mushrooms quickly, storage for weeks or months in oxygen rich environments can weaken mushrooms to cardboard. #2 Medications Medications that effect serotonin reuptake in the brain, in particular those that effect the 5-HT2A receptors, can lessen or completely nullify the effects of magic mushrooms. The most common class of drugs we see reported with this effect are SSRI's and SNRI's. The effect of these substances can very greatly between individuals though. Neurochemistry is an extremely complex subject and we don't have all the answers as to why some people take antidepressants and still have complete psychedelic experiences whilst others feel no effect at all. #3 Tolerance Also to do with neurochemistry, it's not understood why but people have a varying natural tolerance to psychedelics. Some people require twice as much as others to get psychedelic effects from magic mushrooms whilst others require half as much. In psychedelic studies it was recorded that a small percentage of people are completely uneffected by psychedelics. It's rare, but it happens. Also if people have taken mushrooms or other psychedelic drugs recently the effect of magic mushrooms can be diminished or negated. This is believed to be due to temporary neurological changes. Commonly people wait at least two weeks or more between trips to feel the complete effect of a particular dose. Besides these three primary causes there are minor causes including having eaten heavy foods before dosing, which can cause reduced and delayed onset of effects, and also a curious inability for some people to feel effects for the first times they consume psychedelics. This is rare and the cause is unknown, but it happens. After knowing all of these things there are still generally few options besides eating different and/or more mushrooms and seeing what happens. Some people consume RIMAs to potentiate magic mushrooms, though this can carry risks with contraindications and should be researched accordingly before attempting. Some people can choose to discontinue SSRIs or SNRI's under their doctors supervision but it usually takes months after cessation until psychedelics effect them like other people, depending on how long and which medications they have been using. Whatever the outcome, know that psychedelics are just a tool. The states of mind and the insight that they can provide are often double edged and can be achieved without them. They are not a panacea to life's difficulties. There is always a better way. It's up to us as individuals to find that path for ourselves. --------------------
